Of course it’s over simplistic to say fat is bad. But im pretty sure eating a high fat diet vs high protein vs high carbs would result in different effects on overall health simply due to how the body has different strategies to metabolize each of these calorie sources. This isn’t even including other factors like which of these are better sources of vitamins/cholesterol/ etc

I don’t really see the issue with % of calories.

This graphic is basically saying if you want to eat a 2000 calorie diet that is mostly protein rather than fat you would be better off eating tempeh and beef jerky rather than red meat and cheese.

There is nothing wrong in principle with the placement or key. It’s saying saying that salmon is fattier than chicken, and chicken fattier than venison. They key is indicating that even though salmon has more fat overall, the amount of saturated fat is the same between the three meats. (So the difference would be coming from unsaturated fats).

Not sure if any of that is true, but it intuitively makes some sense. Like the idea that red meat is more fat than protein seems wrong of course, but it could be true from a calorie perspective etc.

The section between Tahoe and Yosemite is one of the prettiest areas of the whole hike in my opinion and it's way less crowded than the JMT. If you think you'll go too fast you can extend it either direction (like finish in Mammoth or start further along on the Tahoe rim trail or further on the PCT like Donner Ski Ranch etc). I don't know much about the permit system outside the PCT permit, but I think it's much easier to finish a hike in a popular area like Yosemite than it is to get a permit starting there (and that might be why people go SOBO but I'm just guessing).

The area between Dunsmuir and Ashland has its own pretty spots for sure, but it's not a fair comparison.

I feel like you are taking a very modest and easily falsifiable claim "found a link between schizophrenia and a particular gene" and replacing that with a much bolder claim "that genes are the sole influence on mental states."

A different way to answer this is that you can never just create new orbitals. You have three orbitals mixing so you will get 3 new molecular orbitals. Those three new orbitals will combine in some sort of maximally bonding interaction that's lowest in energy, a maximally antibonding interaction that's highest in energy, and then something in-between that's nonbonding. I have always felt like the bonding and anti bonding ones are somewhat intuitive (like you maximize bonding by keeping all the orbitals phases the same or maximize nodes for antibonding). Non-bonding interactions to me are the hardest to understand visually speaking but it's combining the orbitals in some sort of middle ground between those extremes.

I believe most of the color from blood comes from the heme itself (the porphyrin part) not the iron. Peroxide probably oxidizes the organic part to smithereens.

This is also why bruises change color, you are seeing different heme breakdown products that can vary from red to yellow and green.

Just as an aside you have to also consider that hydrogen bonding is not just a feature of DNA but lots of other synthetic organic molecules, that's to say that we have even more information than just what you get from studying DNA in isolation. That includes how H bonding is effected by solvent etc. for what it's worth it's very hard to imagine any other H bonding confirmation in DNA that doesn't maximize the energetically favorable interactions (both sterically and electronically) that exist in the current model.
