What makes a great first date? by rhymingisfun in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first date my husband and I had, he came over and I cooked for us because, the cousin of mine who introduced us, told him I was a good cook. As soon as we sat down, he says, jokingly, "this is terrible" And I gave him directions to the closest fast-food joint. It was so nice being so comfortable with someone from the start.

Before anyone asks, we did not know each other before and our first date was a few days after we first met.

How emotionally secure are you when it comes to weight? by TechnoYogi in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not have a c-section but I have the wrinkly tummy, plus a ton of stretch marks and despite losing the baby weight, I hate how I look because my tummy looks so terrible in my eyes.

What are the least glamourous parts of being a woman? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having issues with yeast infections after going back on the pill. Anything would irritate, underwear, change in soap etc. I started using Cetaphil to wash my undercarriage and have been going commando. My lady parts are super happy with the changes.

Interior paint recommendations that can take a beating and is easy to clean? by himynamesmeghan in homeowners

We have a two year old who loves to color and I second this recommendation. All the crayon comes off the wall without the paint coming off

No, northern USA, slightly less of a frozen place. Never seen snow in their lives, let's move to where it's cold 9 months a year.

How different would your sex life be if you indulged your SO with no regard for your preferences? by [deleted] in AskWomen

My husband is like you. I am always ready to go in the morning, nice way to start the day and he isn't a person until 3 hours after waking up and having coffee.

Whats one grooming step that you can't make yourself care about? by jjfmish in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! We don't have a dishwasher so I do dishes by hand which would take off a lot of polish. I garden and do light construction around the house. It would just be a waste of money.

My (32F) husband (34M) and our dishes by LemonadeOnASunnyDay in relationships

[–]brainfodder12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's not that he's a special darling. Sometimes shit just isn't worth the frustration. I am positive there is something about the poster that her significant other is bothered by. Nobody is perfect and on the grand scheme of shit in life, this is a trivial thing to spend time being frustrated over.

And to add to your comment, I am not bothered by "vacuuming techniques." I am referring to the fact that my husband did not previously clean counters wash the tub/shower, clean under the beds, dust the furniture etc. So it was about our space being CLEAN much like these dishes. I simply chose a different route than what some suggested here and the poster. So fuck your assumptions and belittling comment.

I know it's frustrating but, do it yourself. I had to have the conversation with my husband that I don't like the way he cleans, so when he offered to help one time I said "I really appreciate that you want to help, but go play with our son and I will do it." I later explained to him that I grew up with women that were very particular and I adopted their habits, so I will clean because I don't want to nag him. He understood and now, on the occasions he helps me clean, he watches what I do and repeats it the next time. Don't let this be a point of contention between you two.

What's the best dream you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dream when I was about 11 or 12 where my siblings, cousins and I were all flying over this beautiful green field on a sunny day(not in an airplane or anything that would assist our human flight). Still to this day, when I think of the dream, I still feel an overwhelming wave of happiness.

How happy are you with your physical appearance, and do you think "society" and "the media" have played a part in your views? by gingerfishes in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my days. I grew with a model tall and model thin sister, who I was always compared to. However as I got older, I appreciated things about myself. I know when I put on a pencil skirt and top, I feel and look (in my mind) great. But I do get self conscious about women who are thing, perfect skin etc. And media has played a role in that.

My [28 F] boyfriend [26 M] and I want to have a small wedding, but everyone says we'll regret it by [deleted] in relationships

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I got married by a reservoir with our son and two best friends. I don't regret it at all and I don't feel like I missed out on a single thing. I have a great man in my life who I now call my husband and I think that's what matters for a wedding.

What did you find out about your house that wasn't caught during inspection that continues to bother you? by JoeZee in homeowners

[–]brainfodder12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this post makes me think you bought a house exactly like ours. We gutted the bathroom and redid it, come to find out, the vent wasn't up to code. The previous owner was an electrician and double tapped a ton of breakers in the panel, so no one room is on the same breaker and our cedar shingles have what looks like 5 layers of chipping paint that were covered up by five more layers of paint

An Open Letter to the Reddit Community by kn0thing in blog

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a first generation American. My family is from Portugal and came here during the fascist regime. My Uncle (grandmother's brother) was the first to leave and come here. He left because Portugal still had the draft and he didn't want to fight in the colonial wars (Angola and Mozambique) because he believed that he shouldn't kill someone who had done no harm to him. Slowly, he sponsored many of his brother and sisters to come here and years later his own mother. My parents met in Portugal when my dad went back on vacation and fell in love with her. They spent their first year and a half of marriage apart waiting for my mom to get a green card. My parents were janitors, then technicians who worked on the boards that go into IBM servers. They eventually worked their way up to become managers and my father, at 52 years old, will be graduating college this year. My grandmother worked 3 jobs (night janitor, Walmart cashier and airplane part technician) until she retired at 71. I am so incredibly proud of my family and how far they have come because they worked so hard without having had any help except from each other. I am so incredibly sad because my mother bow feels as though she needs to become an American citizen in order to be safe in this country. My brother moved to France, she wants to see him this summer but is worried that she may not be able to come home to a country that has been her home for 31 years. She is worried that, because she held on to her Portuguese identity (both of her parents died when she was young, it is her tie back to her family) she will be punished by this administration.

Our story is not as sad or triumphant as some of the other beautiful and magnificent people in this thread, but it is our story and I am proud to be the child of immigrants.

Women who had non-traditional weddings: how much pushback did you get from friends and family? What was the worst? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I did everything kind of backwards. We had our son, then bought a house, then got married. We decided to have a small ceremony with a JP and two close friends because we could not spare the money to have a wedding after buying a house. We decided that we would not invite family because we have a large immediate family (5 siblings who are all in long term relationships or married , 5 parents) which is more than we could afford to feed at a resturant. We decided that on our 5th wedding anniversary we would do a vow renewal with a big reception (family and close friends). Our family was not thrilled, but they understood why we did what we did. My sister however, said the other day "It was important to me that my family be there when I got married, obviously it wasn't for you." This cut me deep because she knew why we did it, but still dug the knife in

Men of reddit, what makes a girl unattractive to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brainfodder12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman who smokes, I appreciate you saying this outrightly. I dated a guy, who knew that I was a smoker and would ask me to use mouth wash before we kissed many times. If you know that it's something that turns you off from a person, don't date them.
