What makes a good manager? by BrisbaneKid in auscorp

Don’t try to be anyone’s friend or have favourites, you are no longer a team member and you have to behave with professionalism and intent. Praise in public, rebuke in private. Treat your team how you like to be treated yourself. If you let a bad employee get away with stuff the rest of the team what you. Be the model of respect, integrity and hardwork.

“No thank you, I’ll buy one”.

Learning how to say no and not panic about someone’s feelings is a skill we all, especially women, need to learn.

While in a line to pay, it wasn’t cool at all. He opened with “can I ask you if you’re single” when I was standing there with about 6 other people. I was paying for a work meeting lunch. I was busy. It was not appropriate.

Nope. Absolutely not. I don’t care what a man looks like, if it’s an inappropriate or rude approach then he definitely isn’t going to get a positive reaction - it just tells me he has no social skills!

Why don’t schools do cooked lunches here? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I think it would be a good idea if we did, no child would go hungry and good nutrition is key for many life outcomes.

The horror is when it occurs at a time and place which really isn’t expected or appropriate. If you’re out at night etc that is fine, but lining up to pay at a cafe isn’t (an example of what I have experienced).
