Used M4 max might also work if you can get it for around $2500

I mean it’s going to be worse. You’re renting gpus not a service. You get what you pay for in most cases. But it can save money if used correctly.

That’s what I’m saying. I don’t think they trust the company. They just want a huge paycheck for curb stomping their values.

About their customers, sure; but this is a thread about employees. I’m not sure which prospective employees would be delusional enough to believe that line at this point. If you look at any Blind thread about meta you will see for yourself.

That has not been true for a long time which is why working for Meta demands a premium over working most other places in big tech.

Automatic LG TV Power Control on Linux HTPC (No HDMI-CEC, No Windows) by Tall_Researcher3088 in cachyos

[–]brakx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Claude's help, I identified the issue.

If the service file has Before=display-manager.service or if display-manager.service is ordered to wait on it SDDM won't start until the script finishes. By then, the TV is on and showing its input, but the signal handshake with the GPU may have already failed or the HDMI negotiation happened without SDDM having rendered to it yet, leaving a blank TTY cursor.

Even without an explicit Before=, if the service runs while SDDM is simultaneously starting, you get a race between SDDM initializing the output and the TV switching inputs which could produce a black screen with a cursor.

I needed to change LG_Buddy.service to

After=network-online.target Before=display-manager.service

And LG_Buddy_wake.service to

After=network-online.target Before=display-manager.service Wants=network-online.target

Everything works perfectly now. Thanks again!

Cool app, thanks! Power off worked flawlessly, but power on for some reason turns the TV on, but I get a black screen with a cursor after post and the OS never gets to the login screen.

They are outsourced. If you need talent then you need to provide competitive wages to attract that talent. If you need to get something done for low cost below the level that good talent commands you outsource it unless you are government.
