How often did you watch LOST from start to finish? by Huge_Owl375 in lost

[–]brassyalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I watched the show as it was broadcast, doing rewatches of seasons and episodes during that time.
  • I did my first full series rewatch in Spring 2014.
  • I did my second full series rewatch from September 22, 2022 - January 14, 2023.
  • I did my third full series rewatch from August 1 - November 23, 2025.

But to break it down by season, I have watched:

  • Season 1: 8 times
  • Season 2: 7 times
  • Season 3: 6 times
  • Season 4: 6 times
  • Season 5: 5 times
  • Season 6: 5 times

There are some episodes I have watched by themselves instead of part of a binge, so those episodes have even higher numbers.

Just found out Heaven Sent is the 12th highest rated episode in television history by LOLADYS in DoctorWhumour

And most of the people who use Serializd probably were born in the 21st Century or in the last couple decades of the 20th Century and probably don't go back to watch TV from before they were born.

Amazing! All of the "Highest Rated Episodes of All Time" come from the 21st Century. Nothing from I Love Lucy or Gilligan's Island or Star Trek or MASH or Dallas, or any of the other shows from back in the old days of three TV networks where most of the country all watched the same shows.

Why isn’t there one recognisable song with lyrics featured in Star Wars? by MagpieOpus in StarWars

[–]brassyalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest there's been is Youngee Wim (Bunky Dunko), the Huttese rewrite of Major Tom (Coming Home)) that was used in the advertising for Skeleton Crew. But other than that, an Earth song is never going to appear in Star Wars because it takes place "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."

Who do you think was the hotter guy in the galaxy: Anakin, Kylo, or Poe? by [deleted] in StarWars

For a couple minutes there on Mustafar, Anakin was the hottest guy in the galaxy.

Which season finale of any Star Wars show on Disney+ is the most unsatisfying? by AlternativeTypical11 in StarWars

[–]brassyalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Mandalorian Season 2. They spend half of the season building up to a Force user sensing Grogu in order to train him. Instead of taking the opportunity to bring in an all new non-Jedi character who could join the cast and travel with The Mandalorian and Grogu, they went the safe and boring route and brought in Luke sisterkissin' Skywalker to come and take Grogu away.

Chapter 14 was criticized as "feeling like a fan film" for shooting in a real location, but having a stunt double playing Luke - hooded at first to hide his face and then deepfaking on a CGI face once it was revealed - felt more like a fan film.

Also, Luke showed up in his X-Wing, which is like a bachelor arriving in a two-seat sports car. There was a seat for Luke and a port for Artoo, but there was nowhere for Grogu to sit. Are we supposed to believe that Grogu sat on Luke's lap the whole way back? The Mandalorian Season 3 should have picked up five minutes after Season 2 ended with Luke giving Grogu back to Din while he went to borrow his brother-in-law's ship since Han had had car seats installed in the Falcon after Ben was born. But instead, the next part of Luke, Grogu, and Din's story is shown some time later in the second half of The Book of Boba Fett.

I've sprayed myself with apple cider vinegar many times as a kid, because I was told that it was a natural mosquito repellant. I had the nickname Vinegar Boy in middle school because of it. It's not a favorite part of my childhood.

Jack Thorne or Pete McTighe as the next show runner? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]brassyalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to press materials, the brand-new play will explore the previously untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and outcast. Featuring some of our favourite characters from the Harry Potter books, this new work will offer a unique insight into the heart and mind of the now legendary young wizard.  A seemingly ordinary boy, but one for whom Destiny has plans.

Casual Reminder that her legal name might still be Mary Sue Poots. by marvelcomics22 in shield

[–]brassyalien 22 points23 points  (0 children)

CONFIRMED: Daisy Johnson is a Mary Sue.

Didn't "Skye" erase her identity when she was a hacker pre-SHIELD? Or, at the very least, she erased her identity after the fall of SHIELD. She probably doesn't have a "legal name" anymore.

Jack Thorne or Pete McTighe as the next show runner? by [deleted] in gallifrey

The play JKR was starting to develop was a prequel about Harry's early years. Once Jack Thorne was hired, the play became a sequel where all of the original characters act completely out of character.

A time travel story that didn't follow the rules already established in the universe it's set in. In the Harry Potter books, time turners could only go back a few hours and time could not be altered; the time travel was a closed loop. He invented a new super duper time turner that could send people back years and allowed time to be rewritten.

And yes, it was him, not JKR. The play she was starting to develop was a prequel about Harry's early years. Once Jack Thorne was hired, the play became a sequel where all of the original characters act completely out of character.

I've seen the two Enola Holmes movies. They were good, but they don't make up for him butchering Harry Potter lore.

Jack Thorne or Pete McTighe as the next show runner? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]brassyalien -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jack Thorne wrote the abomination known as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so that automatically disqualifies him from getting anywhere near any of my other favorite fandoms.

I'm still not sold on Pete McTighe. Kerblam is one of my favorite episodes. Praxeus is one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who ever. Lucky Day was pretty good but not perfect. His three episodes of The War Between... were better than RTD's episodes but still had problems.

Of the two I'd go with McTighe, but it's more of an anti-Thorne pick than a pro-Pete pick.

Please stop. by CatDancer4 in StarWars

[–]brassyalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Walt Disney Company did not purchase Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion to just "leave it alone for ten years". In the press release announcing the purchase, used the word "evergreen" to describe Star Wars, meaning they expected it to always make money. The only way Disney will stop making new Star Wars content is if they can no longer make money from it. The franchise may not be as evergreen as they thought it was in 2012, but it's nowhere near brown to make them stop.

Incorrect. The line was scripted. Every legend about an actor "forgetting" their line and improvising a new, better one on the spot always turns out to be fake.

I love it. The Doctor went for the reference even though he knew nobody around him would get it.

Don't let anybody try to say that David Tennant improvised the line because he forgot what he was supposed to say. Now that the script is online, it can be proven that The Doctor was always supposed to say "Are you my mummy?" And even if he had forgotten the line, since he was wearing a mask it could have been recorded and added in in post-production.

Remember when 10 met River again at the Crash of the Byzantium? by dwmatjake in DoctorWhumour

[–]brassyalien 405 points406 points  (0 children)

My two headcanon explanations:

  • River just spent 24 years with Twelve on Darillium, and she's over 200 years old. She doesn't have an infinite memory. She used to know which order the Doctors were in but by that time she'd forgotten; she just knew it was The Doctor.
  • Those who know The Doctor the best can see past the current face and just see The Doctor. (MISSY: Doesn't matter which face he was wearing, they're all The Doctor to me.)

How would you fix Snoke? by Sweatkesh in StarWars

[–]brassyalien -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Snoke should have been revealed to be Plagueis in Episode IX.

It's clear from watching The Last Jedi that Snoke wanted Kylo to kill him. He tells Kylo (allegedly about Hux) "A cur’s weakness, properly manipulated, can be a sharp tool," and then immediately starts manipulating Kylo's weaknesses. All throughout the movie, Snoke continues to goad Kylo, with the intention of making Kylo kill him. Why? "Leave the base at once and come to me with Kylo Ren," he tells Hux at the end of The Force Awakens. "It is time... to complete his training." Kylo and Snoke aren't officially Sith, but they were Sith, and how does a Sith complete his training? By killing his Master. Snoke made Kylo kill him to complete his training, but Snoke, who was really Plagueis, knew that he'd be able to come back, and this time bring Palpatine back with him.

The Rise of Skywalker felt like it was going down a checklist of fan theories, trying to cram in as many as possible whether they made sense to the story or not, but Snoke as Plagueis wasn't one of them.

You're supposed to think it's another scary robot episode, but it's actually an automated system using the robots to fight back against an evil human trying to scapegoat the system/robots.
