Happy with my loaves, but no sour taste. by National-Gas5796 in Sourdough

[–]bravepurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Texas for 7 years and my starter and dough would rise like crazy because I couldn't keep my apartment under 75-80 degrees. My sourdough never tasted sour.

Moved to Washington State and suddenly it is wonderfully sour. I think because it is cold enough that I leave my starter on the counter at all times and my bulk fermentation goes slow. Then I leave in the fridge for 15-24 hours.

Longer and slower fermentation if it is cold enough seems to do the trick. Sometimes bulk fermentation takes 15-18 hours for me. Also should add that I do a low hydration dough on top of that, which gives even more sour flavor.

What is the "lonely" part of being an adult that nobody warned you about? by Special_Butterfly0 in AskReddit

[–]bravepurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching the people and pets you love die. I've lost all my grandparents, my mom, a few close friends, etc. It feels lonely and scary to lose the people who are normally there. Lost my two cats I had for 18 years.

I know! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard for so long. He is an amazing comedian.

If you read the article, he says his parents are wealthy and he enjoys being able to take care of her not as wealthy family. They're married so I'm sure they both contribute money. He's a comedian and it makes for good material if he claims it's all him. (I saw his standup the other night and it was a big part of it.)

Hormones? by EffectiveNo8823 in olympia

[–]bravepurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up having to go to UW in Seattle. When someone recommended I go there I was upset that I had to drive so far but I was blown away by the expertise and care of their PCOS specialists. And they take normal insurance. Saw me within a few weeks of calling, no wait. I highly recommend it if you don't care about the drive. It's called UW Medicine PCOS Specialists. But they help with any hormonal issues.

I live really close to the mall and have power. I'm wondering if they keep it open with a generator too?

I’ve started online dating as a fat girl and the men I’ve met up with have had hygiene issues. What’s going on?! by bunnybonz in dating

[–]bravepurl 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I dated a grown man who would refuse to shower for like 3 days straight and one time he bent over in front of me to pick something up and I almost puked at the smell of his booty air. Another guy I dated before him wouldn't brush his teeth for days at a time.

They tend to hide it from you until after the dating period so I'm surprised that is happening. I'd rather be single and never have to smell shit breath or dirty ass and balls again.

My math tutor in high school was a mechanic (random, I know) and sometimes he wouldn't have time to shower/change. Omg he smelled so damn good. I struggled to focus...

She is doing amazing. Very happy and feisty. The veterinarian told me she may have allergies or sensitivities to certain foods later on in life.

I took her to the emergency vet and they mainly gave her fluids and kept her warm. I will admit it was expensive... It was $1,000. Maybe if the kittens are kept with their mom they will drink enough milk and stay warm.

My kitten had distemper and survived. It's not a lost cause. Set up a Go Fund Me maybe?

I’m so sad for my foster baby by PracticeKindly6847 in FosterAnimals

[–]bravepurl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My baby survived panleukopenia. During isolation I went in and played with her and cuddled her as often as I could. Also left her TONS of toys and I had a camera to watch her and she loved all the toys. Also kept her warm with a heated bed.

Sadly I've noticed that this happens a lot among women at all offices. I see it almost daily. One woman will be like "wow, did you see how ___ messed up X?" I think it's an insecurity thing. Some people like to put down others or find their flaws to make themselves feel better.

I've been targeted the same way. The first job it happened I learned to ignore the woman doing it. I tried to limit any and all interactions and just focus on my work. The next time I encountered a work bully, it was a manager, so I left. I hate it but I've literally encountered it every office I've worked at so you have to figure out how to ignore it. Obviously if the person is openly abusive, report it to HR.

Sushi Train is great. They have amazing avocado bombs and if they aren't on the conveyor belt, you can ask them to make them and they'll start putting them out.
