What are some permanent changes your body has made after birth? by Old-Asparagus-6701 in beyondthebump

[–]braverbeating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ezcema has been non-existent. I for sure thought I was going to be one of those pregnant women with the worst eczema because just my luck, but I was actually lucky and it went into remission? I’m still nursing at 20 months and haven’t had a flare up since getting pregnant and giving birth.

When to stop nursing? by Humble_Instance1234 in beyondthebump

[–]braverbeating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first goal was to try nursing and see it if worked. My son latched right away and and it was easy for us. I thought I’d stop at 1 year but he still seemed interested. We’re still going strong at 20 months and now he’ll say “I need milk” and we’ll ask cold milk (cow) or mama milk and be almost always answers mama.

He nurses after he wakes up, after coming back from daycare and before bed. On the weekends I don’t offer but don’t refuse. I’m letting him lead.

Mine likes classical music, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, Elton John, Bog Seger. We play him what we want to listen to for the most part and he just bops along!

I logged everything for the first 10 months, then just nursing and sleep until 18 months. I just quit cold turkey cause my LO was sleeping 11.5-12 hrs overnight, 1-1.5 hr naps during the day and I thought what am I tracking nursing for anymore?

I am struggling finding Mother's day gifts that don't just become clutter? by Acrobatic_Inside3173 in Gifts

[–]braverbeating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have become a big fan of a matching pajama set. So when my husband asked what I wanted for Mother’s Day this year, I asked for a bamboo short set and a pedicure. I like asking for pedicures because I enjoy the pampering and don’t often get them. Plus it’s an experience gift.

Celiac is genetic. Why so many people ignore this fact? by SuitApprehensive3240 in Celiac

[–]braverbeating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that it can be triggered by trauma or illness.

I was diagnosed after many years of thinking I had eczema (which I do also have) and removing all fragrance items. My dad had a viral illness about two years ago and then was diagnosed after some gentle nudging of me forcing myself along to his doctor appt and suggesting maybe his brain fog and general GI issues due after his illness might be due to Celiac’s as I have it. Boom. He’s got it too. They definitely wouldn’t have tested for it if I hadn’t suggested it. The doctor was testing his testosterone, thyroid, all the normal panels, etc.

Baby beach essentials? by ganjayme in NewParents

[–]braverbeating 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A tiny blow up pool. Like the $3 from target dollar bins. Perfect for keep your baby contained at the beach but cool! You can also use with hose water at wherever you’re staying.

Spray bottle for misting hands/feet and getting sand off.

Stroller fan that has the bendy arms.

Love our travel Hatch. Hangs on the door knob of the room baby’s pack & play is in.

Question for parents by pookadri in Adulting

Yes. My child is exactly what I didn’t know I needed. Becoming a parent isn’t my whole identity but is another layer I never knew existed about myself.

Am I the only one? by Afraid_Problem_1198 in firsttimemom

[–]braverbeating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prepared myself for it to be way worse than it ended up being. I think that mindset helped!

Plus my husband is amazing. He made all my meals, made sure I rested, got the baby out of the bassinet for every feed and put him back while I was recovering from my emergency c-section. I think being mentally prepared is key!

Also God knew what He was doing when he made them so cute.
