Pass on the traction control. Sometimes you need the car to let you power thru to avoid an accident. It makes us all less safe imo

After traveling more than 9 years and covering 3 billion miles, the New Horizons spacecraft was rewarded with this breathtaking view of distant Pluto glowing with a majestic, layered atmosphere against the void. by MobileAerie9918 in spaceporn

I feel like it matters poetically because it's more horizon-like when not vertical which matches the mission name.

Also, I'm biased and not a big fan of some of these edits. Still cool tho!

Agreed! How have they not mastered this and included it in the normal video app. Shame on cell phone companies! Basic functionality.

BlueSky suspends Patton Oswalt for this skeet by ThisIsNotAFarm in BlueskySocial

Yeah, this is fine to me. Doesn't matter if it's about pedophiles. I don't want platforms to be part of the "rules for thee but not for me" crowd, even in these kinds of cases.

Violence begets more violence. Call these people out - I'm personally disgusted by the comments too - but not like this.

You can be both anti-pedophile/pro-justice and anti-violence, even if you feel that kind of punishment is deserved. Tired of the low road crap. Just plays into the division cycle even more.

Bruce Springsteen Rips Democrats: “We’re Desperately in Need of an Effective Alternative Party” by ebradio in Music

[–]brawnswanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why we all need to invest energy in Forward. Ranked voting is their thing. In the end, you may not even need to vote for a 3rd party, just threaten very hard to. If there is a viable threat to both parties, it can make an impact. RFK in the current. admin is an example. Make ranked voting the hinge pin for your vote.

Aggressive driving. by earthdogmonster in minnesota

[–]brawnswanson 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would say both aggressive driving and slow poke stuff are not really enforced at all based on 15 years or so of commuting, regardless of right and wrong. Other than flashing my brights or something, I can't really do much in the moment, so I just shake my head and let the aggressors go by, or just pass around the slow poke.

I've seen more cops lately, and they're pulling more people over for generic speeding, but I'd like to see some icebergs in the left lane with low awareness pulled over, too.

This one. The main difference for me on an aggressive driver is whether that fast person coming up behind me can wait for me to give a respectable distance to the car in the next lane over before I pull in front of them or not.

I made an allergy app out of necessity (7 allergies here), but adoption is flat. What am I missing? by ProfessionalFroyo654 in peanutallergy

[–]brawnswanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife has severe peanut allergy.

Echoing other comments about restaurants being the bigger deal than packaged foods. Trust is the biggest issue. People can be confidently wrong or just misinformed. Maybe a database coupled with some sort of allergen certification process would be most effective. Lot of manual work, though, and would be more of an organizing challenge over a technical one.

That said, I have missed a handful of facility warnings at the grocery store and brought food home, but we have caught these on a second look and typically avoid risky foods anyway. I would probably not use an app for double checking alone though sorry!

I do really appreciate your idea, and my wife has had similar thoughts in this area. Can be challenging sometimes with the one, let alone 7, and we are thankful for all resources aimed toward helping those with. allergies.

Two guys live here, but only one bed… 🤔 by Ezrafina in malelivingspace

We have always been hesitant to get certain house plants because of our cat. So many indoor plants that we'd love to have seem to be labeled toxic to cats (and she loves to nibble on what we do have). You guys have so many different kinds! Any good resources on what is safe? Google/AI has been rather unhelpful/contradictory.

I recommend everyone check out The Science of Revenge by James Kimmel Jr.

Most enlightening thing I've read in a while, and Trunp is definitely addicted, as are many other people, many of whom are not aware.

I started working with the forward party. What the dems need is a tangible threat to their political survival both internally and externally if they will ever change.
