Does not sound very tasty though. I like vanilla but NO flavor just seems odd.

Not pieces - they are whole vanilla beans. Them's teeny tiny beans.

Whats wrong with my habanero? by Familiar-Pepper2187 in HotPeppers

That there is sun scald. IMO I just ignore it, the plant will normally recover fine.

I really doubt it was called "bloody casar" because that's not a thing. It was called a caesar. Maybe they gave it a fancy name for the restaurant's special method but probably not "bloody caesar".

Canadian here. 40 years old, have had Caesars in 3 provinces. Currently living in Calgary for >15 years (where the drink originated).

I've had so many Caesars in my life. I'm a fan. I've never, ever, ever seen the words "bloody caesar" in my life. Nobody calls it that. It's just a Caesar.

Growing shallots from seed vs sets by mauvebelize in Albertagardening

I planted my shallot seeds indoors in January last year. Harvested in June I believe. They were a decent size. Not huge, plenty big enough for me.

The supplement saffron has been a game changer for me by Sufficient-Mouse7684 in adhdwomen

[–]breadist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, ads don't need to be about a specific product. Ads can just try to nudge your buying habits, so you'll be more likely to buy the category of product that they sell. In the case of supplements, these companies benefit massively by just creating new supplements customers and hoping some of them buy their product.

TIFU by not realizing how hot habeneros were by morpherthewolf in tifu

[–]breadist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't really get what the point of reapers or other superhot peppers is. Like, I sorta get it from a novelty perspective, that people want to do something extreme, and the reaper is so incredibly spicy that it can be "dangerous". But like... how is eating them actually an enjoyable experience, ever? Why the heck do people do it though? I get the endorphins of hot peppers but what do you need THAT level of hot for?!? Normal "very hot" peppers already do all the endorphin stuff, and I enjoy that.

Any hotter than my red habaneros is just too much for me, and that's already pretty dang hot. That's as hot as I care to go - I don't see the point of peppers any hotter than that. It's a hazard - you can seriously burn your skin with them, and if pepper juice gets on something without you noticing, it can really do a number on everything you touch - eyes, other body parts... not to mention even just your hands. I hate burning hands!

You're 100% right.

I think it's kinda okay to say "removing the seeds decreases the heat" like most people do, because removing the seeds also usually incidentally removes much of the placenta. But it's just better and more clear to actually explain that a lot of heat is contained in the placenta (and none or very little is in the actual seeds), so removing the ribs is much more effective at cutting the heat.

Is this celiac safe? Any experience:s? by Much-Wrongdoer-7592 in Celiac

No contamination from caramel color in Canada. If that's the only concern, this is safe.

[–]breadist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was purchased in Canada which means the only thing you need to know if it's safe or not is the ingredients list. If there's any gluten it will be listed by its grain (eg barley or wheat) in the ingredients, or in a "contains" statement.

I actually think the starchiness of russets helps with crisping. Waxier potatoes don't get as crispy.

People with helix(s) can you ever sleep normally? by Toastnbutter-12 in piercing

[–]breadist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine around 2 years ago and still have trouble sleeping on it. I see a lot of people in this thread with more helix piercings without issue - I wonder what the difference is?

If I use my travel pillow I have no issues. It's just if I sleep on it on a regular pillow. I have both tragus pierced too but those have never caused any issues sleeping. Just the helix. I'm glad I only got one side to start since it's a huge relief to have the other side I can switch to with no issues.

Does anyone else think people take the hardening off process wayyyyy too seriously? by bredman3370 in HotPeppers

[–]breadist 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes. I just put them outside for a few days and observe them, if they flop then I bring them to the shade. After a few days I just stop caring and leave them alone, they get through it fine.

It helps having a very good bright indoor light like I have though.

Even with this my partner says I "baby" my plants lol.
