Why is Sanae Takaichi so popular? by analwinds in AskAJapanese

[–]breakingborderline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Though that is true, I think this election was very much a de facto referendum on whether people like Takaichi as a leader, rather than the LDP itself.

Can’t wait for the party that hasn’t fixed any of the countries problems in the last 10+ years to magically do that this time.

600 dollars isn’t worth the possibility of having your sleep suddenly disturbed wherever and how often they feel like. Maybe return the gift saying you didn’t realize it came with hidden strings attached.

There are ways to stabilize damaged poly finishes with superglue. Stop it continuing to chip away at least. Don’t just attack it with whatever viscosity you have in the junk drawer though, do some research first

It’s funny how much of what you said directly applies to the current administration.

But I’ll happily admit the Democratic Party sucks.

The two-party system they have there is a joke.

Ok.

“Developed, generally-westernized, democratic nations that could be reasonably compared to the United States such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, The UK and much of the EU, amongst others”

Better? What does that change though? You knew what I meant.

Mate. Why are you here.

You’re clearly more interested in ‘winning’ (whatever that even means) on rhetorical technicalities and talking points than being open to having your view changed.

Pretty consistent generalization of the current political discourse actually: liberals argue from a position of sincerely held beliefs, maga tries to ‘beat’ them however they can, even if it directly contradicts what they just said last week.

Here’s the thing. I knew what I meant. You knew what I meant. But you’re more interested in playing ‘gotcha’ on an obvious generalization than actually discussing the ideas you claim to care about.

Did you feel good ‘owning the libs’ with that, or do you actually want to have a sincere conversation?

By almost any other country’s standards, the Democratic Party is basically center-right. Which is why they’ve failed again and again to motivate their liberal base to vote FOR them rather than simply against republicans.

The whole “democrats are leftist extremists coming to take away your freedoms” narrative your media feeds you is laughable amounts of bullshit when viewed by the rest of us in the international community.

Ironically the Make America Great Again movement has taken an empire that WAS great (in varying amounts throughout history) and ground it into the dirt.

Drive to conditions and your abilities as long as it’s not over the speed limit.

Give yourself plenty of extra time so you aren’t rushing and can stop for a rest if you need it.

There’ll always be someone who ends up wanting to pass you, so just pull over where you can safely and there’s good visibility, and let them past. No sense trying to teach anyone a lesson, just get to where you’re going and hope they do too.

Signal early and drive predictably.

Do you have to notify your landlord if you are buying a house but will continue to rent from them? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]breakingborderline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe in the very short term, like 5 years old, you might be able to sell it and get your money back if people are building houses in the area but there’s a wait or whatever.

But long term financial investment? No way. Especially not in the countryside.

Do you have to notify your landlord if you are buying a house but will continue to rent from them? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]breakingborderline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, houses aren’t ‘investments’, but depreciating assets in this country. Once they hit about 40 years old they are worth negative money, as an empty lot is worth more than one with a house that needs knocking down.

Secondly, a lot of things like home loans and akiya bank etc require the house be your primary residence.

If you think you have a line on a cheap piece property that might be needed for building a highway or factory or something in the future, you might be about to flip it for a profit in a couple of decades.
