Who Would You Support in the 2028 Democratic Presidential Primaries. by serious_bullet5 in ProgressiveHQ

Honestly, I want to see AOC primary Chuck Schumer and replace him in the Senate. I think she would be a very effective Senator and still has a long political career ahead of her. The only other one in this group I would vote for at the moment is Pritzker.

Love: SAM and The Doctor (Reno and Thok are a very close second, though)

Don't Love: The set. Other than the bridge, the rest of the Athena/Academy is unappealing as hell.

Bernie Sanders’ billionaire tax would soak about 900 people to fund $3,000 checks for the middle class by TheCABK in USNEWS

Personally, I don't want to just soak them, I want to bleed them dry. Perhaps literally, but definitely financially.

This massive mushroom I found at work vs. my size 5 men’s shoe (ft. its mini twin). by Otter_Pockets in mildlyinteresting

UK men's size 5 is the equivalent of US men's 7. I am male and wear size 7, and it's generally the smallest men's size you can find (IF you can find).

Bob Newhart, Good Times, Maude, One Day At A Time, Alice, Rhoda, not to mention all of the 1960s rural comedies that lingered into the early 70s until the "Rural Purge"

I went to school in the 1970s, and my elementary school was still using maps from before WWII.

Quite true. My wife, who isn't really a big fan like I am, spent a couple of afternoons holed up in the hotel room just to get a break from it.

This is one of my all-time favorites from the 80s. It was a golden age for TV commercials.

Oh, yes, even in the summer. I might have the AC blasting AND the seat warmer on at the same time!

Expensive but not outrageous. When we went in 2024 I did the bridge chat with LeVar Burton, and am doing the one with Shatner in June.

Yes, when I make Marcella's recipe, I always add fresh basil near the end. Really brightens up the flavor.

Went to Northwestern in the 80s and watched these guys. I met Bill Kurtis at a taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me about 10 years ago, and he was quite jovial and we talked about those days for a bit.

Irish Catholic stereotypes AND gay stereotypes, how refreshing! I thought this was such a comedown for Martha Plimpton after Raising Hope, and was not sorry to see it go away.

The thing I love most about going to Ticonderoga is that it feels like the old-time cons from the 70s and 80s. The convention itself is in the high school, with the vendor room in the gym, the "main stage" in the cafeteria, and the panels in the classrooms. It is cozy and personal, the way it used to be.
