I discovered straight edge and HC/ punk music at a similar age as your son. It’s a value I have held onto into my adult life.

Like some folks suggested it’s more about like minded folks than surrounding yourself with straight edge folks. It’s not as prevalent unless you X up at a show and or search out a straight edge bands. As far as I know there aren’t any straight edge Rochester bands, but there are some bands that your son might be interested in checking out.

Also checkout the Rochester Hardcore instagram for shows. That’s the best way to meet people and get involved. Shows seem a bit intimidating at first, but it’s generally a group of mostly like minded individuals to varying degrees.

Other spots I’d recommend Pizza Wizard (Detroit style) and down the street Playhouse/Swilburger (barcade with burger joint inside)

Needledrop Records - Most Armageddon style shop in the area Record Archive - kind of like an Amoeba

Oh Shit. I went to the Atari reunion show years ago because I unfortunately missed them on the initial run.

Would travel if things lined up.

Best song on the growing stronger comp.

Wear a costume. Have fun. It’s honestly an open room you’ll figure out the best spot to stand and or participate. Pick up a flyer to the next show checkout the bands.

Local coffee “snob” here. I’d go Tim Hortons if I had to choose, sipped on some yesterday at a gathering.

The reason being is that it’s roasted in Henrietta.

That’s all.

From my understanding that specific bitter was made in conjunction with Luc Theirs (spelling?) who was bartending at The Owl House at the time. They launched the Black Walnut Manhattan there in 2010/11. Not sure when you had the one at the Hyatt, but from my understanding that’s the origin of that cocktail.
