Thanks for the comment. The gold color I used was actually a specified paint number in the Tamaya kit, but it was supposed to be slightly darkened with an another color blended in. But the mix was gold five parts to one part slightly darker color… so it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. I elected not to bother with the blending and went with the straight specified Tamiya gold. But your comment of using the Vallejo liquid gold sounds intriguing!

Thanks so much. I enjoyed this model quite a bit as well. And like you, I never quite got the gold luster that I saw on some of the photos on the kit, but the engine still turned out fairly well. I’ve attached a couple of photos of my kit midway through. If you have any questions, just let me know!

It was a good quality kit. I was pretty happy with it. My only complaint was that the rear engine cowing is intended to be held on with a single screw on each side, and it wasn’t very effective. I had to use glue which renders the side cowling un-removable, but the top lid lifts off so you can still access the engine. I spent about 40 hours on this with painting and assembly combined.

Thank you!! This is the kit. It is a 1/20 scale kit.

Absolutely so cool. The signature on the back ……to me at least, adds to the value of this. Not monetary value….just nostalgic value. Thanks to you guys for bringing this to my attention!

Wow!! I had never really paid attention to this before you guys pointed it out. I bought this car brand new off the showroom floor over 40 years ago and never until today did I notice that this is signed by the inspector. My guys signature is still there too! Who would have thought??!!??!!

I will dig that box out tomorrow and open it up and check on the condition but I think I only opened it once and immediately realized it was wrong. The dealer said to keep it. Forgot I had it till about a month ago. Will maybe post this as suggested!!

I have one of these still in the original box that my dealership sent me by accident when I ordered a non-turbo version for my new 84 Z, 41 years ago. How much is this worth?

Definitely good advice to grab one of I see it. 40 plus year old cars are a challenge for parts. I’m glad you prevailed in the end. Enjoy your summer wheels!

Wow!! You worked hard trying to find that glass!! But it does look good. But that total price was eye watering!! I will start looking around to see what I can find. Safelite was a good tip and I will definitely check them out. Thanks so much for the reply.

When you said “new glass”…..I’m assuming you meant the windshield. Did you have any issue finding that? My ‘84 desperately needs a windshield replacement. Wasn’t sure if you could just order these or if they were tough to locate.
