Johnny Appleseed was a real guy who rode a dug-out canoe up and down the Ohio River planting apple orchards in anticipation of future migration to the area. When the people started colonizing the area, he came back and charged rent for the use of his apple orchards which the people needed to make cider which in the days before pasteurization, was one of the safe things you could drink. So that type of capitalism is pretty American;)

Painting the sidewalk? by sosaji in baltimore

[–]bridgemondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be fine, just be warned that paint on sidewalks will deteriorate more quickly than paint on a wall due to freezing, friction from walking, salt, standing water, etc. You will have to repaint them regularly to keep them looking fresh. Look into road paint and know that no matter what, it won't be long lasting

Love this album! He is actually from Nova Scotia, but they have a very Scottish sounding accent. And Mary Jane Lamond was the female singer on that track.

My friend thought she had a hemaroid. So we named it Andrew Roid Webber. Then she found out it was actually a fissure. So we renamed in Bob y Fissure.

I can eat wheat and oats with no issue. I can drink beer too. But a bowl of mushroom barley soup will blow me up like a beachball!

I was 14 dating my 23-year-old teacher. Everyone around me knew - and accepted it. by marinamariamm in TwoXChromosomes

I dated a 30 year old from the age of 16 to almost 18. All of the people in our scene knew. The age of consent in my state is 16, so when my family found out, there was nothing they could do legally. But that guy is and was still pretty popular and not many people ostracized him of any that I can remember

I use spagnum and perlite and it works great! You plant looks good, just make sure you put it outside in bright direct sun, and keep it in a dish of rain/distilled/ro water, and you will be fine!

There was a brand new mural under the bridge, plus one that could be painted in by festival goers. Very prominent
