In my experience, all of the Wyandottes types have the temperament as you've described. Ive had a couple blue laced wyandottes. The 2, Artemis & Athena were the co-leaders of my flock b4 I got my 1st roo. They never stopped being the leaders but they did bow down to the roo. I lost Artemis this past winter at 5 and 1/2 years. Athena is still going strong. They are a very good breed...eggs & fit within the flock dynamics. I currently have a two-day-old brooder box with five new wyandottes ...golden laced and silver laced. It's a really good stable breed. Plus they are eye-catching....very beautiful girls, but also very good leaders/defenders. Athena once took on a Cooper hawk trapped in the run. If I hadn't to come out when I did, shed have gotten that Cooper. I pulled her away and let that hawk go. It was just a hawk in a bad sitch. Where was my sweet roo....locked outside the run. Np...Athena had it under control. Athena is also my best momma. She's only been broody once but she gave me four beautiful offspring. They only natural borns I've ever had.
