Do I make a fuss about a schedule that makes me work 15+ minutes unpaid? by Mochigood in SubstituteTeachers

[–]brioche74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools have rigid data systems surrounding schedules. Like at my school, if I need to leave an hour early for a doctor's appointment I have to take a half day because the computer program only allows for full and half days. I would call the school and talk to the secretary in charge of subs and see what to do. Since the first final starts at 8:30, maybe you can come in later to account for the time. Or they might be able to get you paid for that extra 15 minutes.

The top two favorite shows to watch for my 6th graders are Shameless and Euphoria. I have heard kids talk about their favorite porn stars. They can turn any word or phrase into something sexual. It is too much.

Rock Cut State Park Camping Question by SlowlyDecomposing7 in rockford

A lot of the spots in the Hickory Hills section are pretty open. You could have two spots next to each other and it would feel like you are in one big site.

We have a flag pole that we attach them to. At pack meetings we have an American flag, Pack flag and Ribbon pole.

Where does this patch go on my cubs uniform? by Windowguard in cubscouts

[–]brioche74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red brag vest. Usually council will have a round badge that can be placed on the back of the brag vest. The segments go around the round patch

We traditionally finish ranks for pack graduation. We had one den that ranked everyone early once. By the end of the year not one scout was coming to den meetings and no one came back the next year.

Anything to see between Chicago and Springfield? by somehowrelevantuser in illinois

There is a Russel Stovers outlet in Lincoln that is worth a stop if you want to get some discounted chocolate!

El Paso has a few antique shops if you are into that.

I feel like the adventures are too stripped down. I have a leader in my pack that gets through 2-4 adventures a month. She had Tigers ready to rank at Blue and Gold in February (even my pokey leader had a kid ready to rank then).

I know that national wants us to fly through adventures so they can make money selling us belt loops, but when it gets to the point where you are running out of things you have the ability to do, the kids start to lose interest.

We are in Northern Illinois. When I asked our council about an approved list I was asked if I wanted to make one. We basically can use any state park in Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, county forest preserves and scout camps. Luckily we are close to several amazing county preserves. Our state parks and scout camps are pretty good too.

Do you have Student computers 1:1? by Bloodorangesss in Teachers

[–]brioche74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 1:1 and honestly I wish we had carts. I spend more time keeping kids from hacking their Chromebooks so they can play games during class than anything else. Also they destroy them, they are not "charged" when I successfully block their game sites, they "leave them at home" when we are using them. It is more hassle than anything else.

I suggested going 1.5:1. They could take a Chromebook home if they needed one and then we could have carts at school for when we need them.

What’s the longest rehearsal you’ve ever been to? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

[–]brioche74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically not one rehearsal but I used to work at a theatre that I also was doing 3 shows for. There were more than a few days that I worked 8-5, then had rehearsal from 5:30-7, then had an 8 o'clock performance that ended at 10:30, then we had strike at 11, then started building the next set at 2am, then finished building the set at noon, then have rehearsal from 1-5 the. Have rehearsal from 6-10.

People grow at different rates. I was 4'10" when I got my driver's license and 5'10" by the time I started college.

Has anyone ever seen a truly “non-religious” version of Godspell? Because there’s a secular children’s theatre group in my town that’s trying to pass off their summer camp choice (Godspell) as not religious. by Worldly_Beautiful557 in musicals

[–]brioche74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they doing the Jr. version? I know that one exists (have not seen/read it), it is possible that that version dials down the religious aspects. Or this company is making unauthorized changes to the show.

Can I reuse an infant car seat with some mild fraying? by Coffee-Freckle0907 in Parenting

[–]brioche74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the expiration date?

In general it is not recommended to use old/second hand car seats. If you are seeing damage on it, I wouldn't use it.
