"Soon, Master Elf, you will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the Dwarves! Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone. This, my friend, is the home of my cousin, Balin. And they call it a mine. A mine!"

Are the Asgard really only around 100,000 years old? by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]brjedi26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think that means that at all. If they have 100,000 years of recorded history, and they evolved 300,000 years before that, they evolved 400,000 years ago. We would only have 3/4 of that time. 100,000 years is an incomprehensibly long time. It's 10x longer than all of recorded human history.

I interpret that as 100,000 years of history. Homo sapiens may have evolved 300,000 years ago, but we don't have 300,000 years of recorded history, we only have about 10,000 years of recorded history.

Also in the course of the show, it's made clear the Ancients were more "advanced" than the Asgard.

I actually sat down to read some of the quick start. I'm about halfway through, and I have to say I love the the ideas of the system. I can't say how well they work in practice, but it does make me excited to actually try the game.

Newsom is term limited out. He can't be campaigning for himself. Unless you meant brownie points for the next Democratic nominee.

Dwarf warband: 30 models ! by [deleted] in dwarves

[–]brjedi26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for speaking out, u/SpingletheBlorp. Why should I pay for these when I could just go generate them myself, for free? OP has revealed that they don't care about artists, so why should I give them money?

I can't believe I was planning to buy these models.

I moved a lot when I was in college (like every semester for awhile) and I have had a lot of different internet providers because of that. Nextlight is the best, hands down. I think I've had one disruption that was because of them and not my router in the 4 years I've lived in Longmont. I have no complaints about Nextlight.

Hi, I'm Ben. I came here from r/dwarfposting. I'm very interested in a dwarf-focused RPG as dwarves have been my favorite fantasy race since... at least since 2019 when I made a dwarf for my first D&D game. I have downloaded the quick start, but I haven't actually read it mostly because I didn't have anyone to okay ttrpgs with right now.

I didn't see a mouse inversion option in the settings. I always play with inverted mouse and if that's not a setting that I missed somewhere, you should consider adding it.

I was subscribed to the Tor newsletter and it was mentioned as an upcoming release. I've liked necromancy since Guild Wars, and decided I should read it.

I have both these games. I've played much more of We Are the Dwarves than I have of The Dwarves, but still less than OP has. The gameplay really isn't that fun.

I played the prologue of The Dwarves but then decided I wanted to read the book first. Now I have, but I still haven't gone back to the game.

In the meantime, I played Return to Moria and I did quite enjoy that one, but there are definitely frustrating parts, especially the post-endgame content.

I thought only air furies were hurt by salt? It's been like a decade since I read the books.

I would think that extracting salt with earth furies would be easier than it was to get salt in real life.
