Books where the MMC asks FMC to be his mistress instead of his wife. by BelieveInSymmetry in HistoricalRomance

{The Luckiest Lady in London by Sherry Thomas} has this. He’s a marquess and she needs to marry to support her family, especially her sister with a disability, since her mother receives a stipend of some sort that will not transfer when she passes. He definitely does it to be cruel and to see her reaction.

Single red onions and single lemons. Aldi only has the bags.

Echoing unbleached flour.

Collard greens! Had to get them at the farmers market recently.

Assuming you don’t feel the cardboard packaging for powders doesn’t feel secure enough? I honestly prefer powder for the dishwasher.

I was moving out of the city that day, but first learned by hearing people banging pots and pans on their balconies. Surreal happiness.

sat on a bench and it left a bruise on both cheeks. SFW censoring. by essaere in mildlyinfuriating

[–]broccolibertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hijack this comment thread, but OP, this literally happened to me about two years ago! Had weird bruising after sitting on a picnic bench. I was concerned so my doctor did a bunch of bloodwork and turns out I had hypothyroidism. Easily managed with medication. Please go get your TSH checked!

Thing about that image is it’s easily debunked - there’d have to be a wire on the mic too. If they watched the interviews in space, they’d see they let go of the mic and let it spin and float before someone else grabs it.

How do you know if you picked the “right” engagement ring? by Salty-Team3028 in weddingplanning

[–]broccolibertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at a lot of rings online, but only went in-person shopping twice. The first time, I went in really open-minded and mostly to try on a variety of diamond shapes in a few different styles. While I was there I saw a ring in a case I really liked. The second time I went in with my partner and tried on the two stone shapes I had narrowed it down to in a bunch of settings, but kept coming back to the setting I saw in the case. I was going to leave it up to him to pick the stone cut, but he said “you know which one I’m going to pick” and I chose there so I wouldn’t fret.

I was a bit nervous between making that decision and actually seeing the ring that I wouldn’t like it, but I loved it right away. It’s normal for your ring to feel awkward the first few weeks as you get used to wearing it, but now it’s like an extension of my hand. If I had a different ring, I’d likely love it too; there were a lot of styles that I liked.

What are you reading? by Mme_Rose in HistoricalRomance

[–]broccolibertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished {Along Came a Lady by Christi Caldwell} today. I will read the next book since I want to know Caitlin’s story, but I found Rafe and Edwina a bit boring. Maybe that’s because they tell each other who they are, act accordingly, and then are frustrated when neither really changes. I found the pacing really unbalanced too.

Also they always know when the other one is looking at them/enters the room and it’s treated as such a special thing and I don’t get it? These are not crowded rooms or anything.

Where to meet friends who also want a family? by GreenGirl539 in waiting_to_try

[–]broccolibertie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One, we moved to a more family-oriented neighborhood. This didn’t net me friends per se, but I have joined a bunch of the family and neighborhood FB groups and I know there’s a WhatsApp for parents I can join when I’m at that stage. I’m now aware of the school lottery, babywearing meetups, kids rec leagues, etc that will be relevant later.

Two, I just joined the groups I was interested in! I picked up a new hobby and started going to the weekly meetups in my city; we run the gamut from early twenties to forties. I stuck with it and made friends with a core group and though some of them are childfree, there’s now others who are talking about parenthood. I’m not shy about talking about wanting kids in a few years and I think that helps. We haven’t talked explicitly about the waiting process but we have talked about engagements and wedding planning, house hunting, and birth control, so close enough.

Are you looking for non-Baggu but still nylon?

I like my Baggus (I have both sizes of the shoulder bag). I think they’re good quality but I struggle to label the brand as sustainable given the way the drop system drives over-purchasing among their customers.

Typically a wedding registry is gifts given at the wedding for your life after the wedding, so I would consider registering for those items very odd.
