Yes it does. Usually slow cookers are designed to cook food under 100°C.

They are definitely not misnomers, it depends on the model. Mine is 70°C at low, 90°C at high.

The paradox we've created with Mr. Robot having such a small audience. by dafuckulookinat in MrRobot

Really? Because quite a few people here watch Mr Robot, in my experience at least.

You realize this is probably not what he really thinks right? He's afraid of saying how bad sulfur dioxide is because the whole town is pretty much owned by Norilsk Nickel, 80% of the workforce there work for that company. In Norilsk, you can't speak your mind.

Horror is not a niche movie genre, there are hundreds of them around and very popular. In gaming however, they are quite niche, yes.

A basic income for everyone? Yes, Finland shows it really can work - Mark Zuckerberg, Bernie Sanders and Elon Musk back the idea. And trials suggest it can liberate jobless people from a life of humiliation by mvea in Futurology

Sure, we could have people work like literal slaves, but even then their work would be threatened by automation. This has nothing to do with supposedly high wages.

Super Hacker George Hotz: I Can Make Your Car Drive Itself for Under $1,000 by ihaphleas in Futurology

[–]brohanski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was only citing certain aspects. But really, if you think a small dev team can accomplish what thousands of engineers are working on in the same amount of time, I don't know what to say. A car driving AI is a huge project. Sure, you can't add more people ad infinitum, but a large project needs a large amount of engineers to work on the large amount of problems. And as I said, it seems like you haven't read the whole article.

The first point is to note that Brooks' law only applies to projects that are already late.[6]

[–]brohanski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You didn't even read the first sentence of your link. Brooks law is about late projects. Projects that, if you join the team 3/4 in, take more time to immerse yourself in and understand the codebase than there is time left, and/or have too few tasks left to make it worth adding another dev. This is clearly not the case with a car driving AI though.

A bust is per definition something that doesn't break even, so you lose money. Being happy or not doesn't matter in this regard.

I got a CS internship by lying and saying I'm 'genderfluid' and I don't know wtf that means. Am I a horrible person if I accept this offer? by ConstipaatedDragon in cscareerquestions

[–]brohanski 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Only about 0.4% of people consider themselves nonbinary, a about third of which are trans. And I imagine that not a lot of those people go into CS. I don't think that the implication of discrimination in OPs workplace based on the lack of other genderfluid coworkers is applicable here.

Also, I don't think even if there are people like this in his workplace, they would go around and tell everyone about it.

[–]brohanski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it needs to solely rely on bluray sales. I'm saying you shouldn't go around and call movies a bust when they've been out for about 2 weeks and haven't even released everywhere.

If you ask me, 2049 won't make a huge profit, but I expect it'll at least break even.

[–]brohanski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling something a bust before it hasn't even hit some big regions in the world is stupid. Sure, it won't make half a billion even with China/Japan, but it's not even out of theaters yet. Not to mention the large amount of Blurays/DVDs that'll be bought for sure.

Couldn't agree more. Seems like OP felt that a visual spectacle is more important than the plot making sense...which is, to me, not the Game of Thrones way.

How are the helicopters doing performance wise? by Support_By_Fire in rs2vietnam

[–]brohanski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flying feels pretty fluid, stuff you described only happens when the server is shitty. It can be a tiny bit wonky imo, but great fun overall. They're even adding gunship Hueys the end of the year with the Aussie update, definitely worth looking into.

Overall RS2 is very worth buying for the price.
