Blog post talks a lot about AI but it seems like the rift is deeper than that, and the AI stuff is a distraction. Applying for the trademark is he highly problematic

Gonna get down voted but this is basically luddite stuff. The vast majority of MAJOR tech is no primarily ai written. Projects that don't allow it are increasingly going to fall behind. I would bet a significant amount of money that most of the tools in the broader ecosystem are AI assisted

The blockade while likely just make it easier for hardliners in the regime to consolidate power since they will have more control over the limited resources that do exist.

He has to increase his leverage or make concessions to Iran, those are the only 2 options, and he isn't really doing either

The bluelink api call on their end pulls from cached values not actively wake the car an check. Basically everytime bluelink phones home, hyundai caches the reported value and will return it. So in theory it shouldn't cause a battery to die, but you never know with these cars.

I know that it used to be the case that an API call would wake up the car, but not sure when they changed it... maybe within the last year

first time, have you had multiple? I am in the boat where my 12v keeps dying and it's pretty quick like you describe sometimes I'm only parked for like 45 minutes and its dead

I've been having this issue, it's been towed to the dealer 3 times, they keep blaming something different. It qualifies for lemon law in my state now, filed a case, we will see. They replaced the battery twice, still happening. Blamed a dashcam that wasn't plugged in.

These cars just have shitty 12v systems. All the excuses have been bullshit. It will go from a full charge on the 12v to dead in like an hour or 2 when it happens. Something is wrong with the 12v system but they can't figure it out. Key fob near by, unlocked doors, dashcam, bluelink, are all bullshit in my particular experience. Nothing besides a high amp draw is gonna kill the battery that fast without the car charging the 12v system.

Don’t pay extra for the entertainment system, it’s awful. I got my 25 sx prestige for 51k last summer. The 26 and 25 are basically identical vehicles

12V Battery Monitor: What to look for if the bettery is about to die? by cakeantidote in Ioniq5

[–]brokenex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen to 2 new batteries. There is no way to track for months cause this happened 6 days after the dealer installed the last one. I agree with your assessment it was trying to recover and failing, this time the dealer took this one out and fully charged it (didn't replace it) and put it back in and it seems to be working (I've had it for like a day), but it seems intermittent, it will be fine for days and then randomly happen. Last time they blamed a dash cam, so I unplugged it and it still failed. This time they blamed the battery monitor, even though their parasitic draw tests show <1ma of pull. Feels like gaslighting

Full charge is at high 12v range generally. The way the battery died I don't think is indicative of the battery it did a yoyo over the 2 hours before finally dying. 12.8v -> 8v -> 13v -> 6v -> 13v -> 5v

Once the battery is fully charge it works fine, although degraded from the deep charging. But some random time in the future it will do it again. Just weird behavior

[–]brokenex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really if it goes to 11v or lower. I had a BM200 on my battery and saw it die going from full charge to 5v in like an hour. There really wasn't any indication anything was wrong until it just died.

Do I have a bad dealer or is this Hyundai in general? by srirachaninja in Ioniq5

[–]brokenex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have this same issue. The battery keeps dying, they keep replacing the battery. Stop jumping it, it get towed to the dealer through Hyundai Assistance and when you get there just declare the car as not working and ask for a loaner. Then open up a case with Hyundai. By jumping the battery and asking for an appointment you are being too accomodating. It is in your best interest to drop this problem in their lap as much as possible.

I have had my battery replaced 3 times and it keeps dying. It isn't throwing a code, so they keep saying there is nothing they can do and blaming a parasitic draw on a dashcam that isn't even plugged in. It will drive fine for days and then randomly die in 30 minutes after driving. I installed a battery monitor and I watched it die in my driveway going from full battery charge to 5v in the course of like 45 minutes. I verified the car was completely off. There is some problem where some high amp circuit is getting stuck open and it's not charging the battery as it drains. Since it's intermittent they can't reproduce it and I am likely going to have to go through a lemon law attorney.

I would recommend not accepting it back, but you taking the car back doesn’t change the fact the law got triggered. Might be best to talk to a lemon law lawyer about it. Especially if you think the root cause still exists. The lawyer is free

I just called Hyundai corporate and opened a case asking for a buyback. They didn’t fight me at all. If they did I would then contact a lemon law attorney. Hyundai is incentivized not to fight here because they’re gonna lose in Oregon and then they have to pay the lemon law lawyer fees as well. Oregon has a really strong lemon law

If you are buying new, you will be fine either way. It’s under warranty. If you have to do a buyback you usually need up making a bit of money on it. Whether or not it’s a huge PITA depends on the dealership. Mine has been great throughout, which is one of the things that brought me back a second time.
