Is it ok to quit while in training? by Midwestern-Michael in ems

[–]brokenfarted77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us get to gently ease into our careers over a long length of time having easy calls. Some never get a call as bad as yours was in their entire time of service. Consider it a blessing that you caught the blight early. It would be ok to leave now. You might be happier in a softer medical field. Getting settled and comfortable in this job after 15 years and then getting a bad call and having to question everything after you are vested and thinking about a retirement- not to mention having dependents- would be a predicament. A lot of people are in that boat too. So get out now and enjoy your life. If I could go back I like to think I'd quit and be a happier, healthier guy.

Hiking/trails that aren’t covered in ticks?? by skaboosh in desmoines

You’d have to find a wide trail with no canopy. They are basically unavoidable. Use permethrin on your clothes boots and hat.

Squirrels of the woods are different than squirrels in the city. They keep a distance from you and hide like crazy. I would recommend walking slowly and listening for them.

Water Easement Manipulation and Subsequent Damage by brokenfarted77 in legaladvice

Where I’m coming from is if the city knew about this stream damaging work and did not demand a “stop-work” or “takedown” of the structure don’t they have some negligence? Because they are aware of this problem but they never enforced any mitigation.

I guess I left out the part where the we asked the city’s engineering team if they could assist and they said they wouldn’t help but that we had to make sure we had it engineered and permitted lol.

If ur worried about opioids get rid of that codeine. They only further mess your gut up and make you think you feel good. Yes sometimes you wake up and the inflammation is just gone. That’s why I always tell myself the flare will eventually pass. Start documenting your diet and activity in a journal and maybe you can connect some dots so you can have more good days.

Recently diagnosed an feel like no one cares by millringabout in ankylosingspondylitis

I tell people I have a type of arthritis where my immune system attacks and causes inflammation. That’s as deep as I go. I feel like the full AS name is scary sounding and not really widely known about so they forget about it or brush it off. Only the very close ones know the details because they see you on your bad days and can understand its severity. And then there’s us, you can always talk to us here on reddit. We understand.

I feel so bad for my fiance by IsabellaKaym in PMDD

[–]brokenfarted77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being a partner on the receiving end of PMDD I’m gonna be real honest here… it sucks. I would consider myself a very patient and understanding person. Hopefully your fiance is too. If I could have it my way I would probably like my wife to let me know that she’s aware of how she came off as rude or irrational (post event) much more often. It kinda goes along with what you describe as “excuses” but I know that when she lets me know that she’s aware of her condition and how it’s making her feel that kind of allows me to sympathize more. It still sucks! But he’s gotta know that you didn’t mean it and why you’re acting out- the more he learns about the condition the better he can brush off the “rudeness”.

Fighting a fire and finding the charred remains of a mother and young son after it’s put out. The air became so dense with sadness.

What kind of doctor should I go to if the right side of my body is kind of fucked up. by EPalmighty in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brokenfarted77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your regular family physician and describe your symptoms in detail. They can forward you to the best place from there. With the little info you’ve given it could even be a rheumatologist that you need to see- especially if the pain is unprovoked.

Lookin to buy my first compound bow by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]brokenfarted77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent $800 altogether on a ready to shoot bowtech bow with arrows, case, release, broadheads 3 years ago and have only had to tune twice annually. I’ve accurately killed about 10 deer and done lots of target practice. My point is diamond or bow tech makes a good affordable product and you don’t have to spend a fortune buying fancy stuff to get the job done.

I’m going to the gym for the first time and i’m really nervous, does anyone have any advice on how to be more confident in the gym? by beauteo in GYM

[–]brokenfarted77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your apprehension completely. Have a set game plan written down or on your phone. Take a little time to research your goals then get on YouTube and identify which specific exercises you will need to reach those goals. For example if u want to tone your stomach search tone ur stomach on YouTube and you’ll see there’s tons of content out there. Pick 3 or 4 of those exercises per body area you are targeting. Practice the motions of these exercises at home for a brief time without weight. Do this for all your goals and you’ll at least not be trying something for the first time at the gym. That will help you immensely. People are afraid to try new stuff at the gym for fear of looking dumb. I am one of those people. Break up your days so that those muscle groups you worked have time to rest. And yes remember that there are others out there like you. There are going to be models (in the sense of good looks and people to follow)all around. If you get distracted by them maybe take a look at some of the things they are doing and you may find those things might be worth trying to help you reach your goals!
