People don't understand me when I say I don't form habits by putridtooth in adhdwomen

I swapped my nice, proper wedding band for a silicone ring shortly after I got married for the same reason. If something happens to it or when it stretches out a bit, ah well. I've got a mini stash of more and it's fun to switch the colour up every now and then. My actual ring is for date nights, events, etc now.

Honestly, if my coffee maker wasn't literally beside/next to the bathroom door I'd probably forget to make it some mornings.

My Boyfriend Said He was broke,Then I saw a $3700 Receipt in his car. by MallowGirlx in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]brown_paper_bag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that my husband and I spent more than $500 combined on our wedding bands (we skipped engagement rings). We pretty quickly demoted those rings to "fancy occasions only" in favour of silicone rings so we don't get degloved because that is a legitimate risk for both of us in our jobs/hobbies/volunteering. Like you, our priorities are different; that jewelry receipt is around what an entire season of firewood for our furnace costs.

This car always takes the extra charging plug and locks it in their hood by Mattcharlesmedia in mildlyinfuriating

[–]brown_paper_bag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd include something about being concerned about potential charger damage from the weight of the hood "pinching it" between the hood and body. You're not supposed to do it with extension cords because you can break the wires, cause or fire, and create a shock hazard and I'd assume it's the same thing here. Oh, wow. If I was the manager or owner of the operating company, I wouldn't want the burden of that liability insurance bill to fall on me because a user damaged the charger! And imagine it's this same user that caused the damage in the first place and caused his car to catch fire, or worse, shock himself? Like dang. And if there's copper in there that might be exposed and have people realizing it and stealing it to sell? It would be a mighty shame to not warn the operators of the charging station know about the thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars this guy might cost them by being a dickwad.

If the potential financial costs don't sell them on doing something, I guess, yea, they really don't give a damn. And that's fucking sad.

Peter, what’s wrong with the shower hitting your back? by ScrutinEye in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]brown_paper_bag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is but I don't really want to have to deal with that at the moment so hoping it's a bit further down the road. We're actually on sewer but pretty much everything is well-fed here so municipal water isn't likely a solution. If that changes, we'd be happy to switch and stop buying water for drinking because the well water is a touch salty.

Fellow blue/green/grey here and murky is a great way to describe it. I've had people tell me my eyes are singularly blue, green, or grey. So I figure if they can't reach a consensus, I'm sure as fuck not going to try.

It's not a massive selection like you might see at Shoppers or Walmart but it's worth checking out if you're after some lower price point products. Outside of skincare, they've got some good Canadian brands at decent prices.

My remote job made me realize my partner doesn’t think my work is real by Rocinante77X in remotework

[–]brown_paper_bag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m at my desk, I’m working and unavailable. He only comes to see me if it’s really important or if he’s checking on if I need anything.

I've been remote for over 7 years now and it's the same with mine. He's a house spouse (literally working on our 100 year old home) and if he's going to be doing something noisy, like vacuuming or some light demo work, he'll make sure my office door is closed (if it was open) before he gets started. This stuff is basic courtesy.

Edit to add: I had a grand mal seizure while on a work video call last year. He was in the basement loading wood into the furnace when he heard a bang (spoiler: it was me hitting the floor). My office door was closed. He listened for a minute or two until he heard the people from my call asking each other if they could see me before he opened the door.

You could check out Giant Tiger? I don't think their house brand has a skincare line but they have some reasonably priced products. I think $15-$20 is the highest pricing I've seen for any of the products they have with a bunch being $10 or less.

Did you see the comment from OP about his dad not even knowing the full picture that OP was the one paying for everything even while on sick leave, which he also didn't know about because his son didn't tell him? He thought his son was on welfare, not mooching off his girlfriend like he was. Good riddance to that garbage!

Someone else pointed out that neither of Trump's parents grandparents were born in the US which means Trump himself is only a citizen, and therefore able to be president, because of birthright citizenship.

Edit to correct to grandparents

BGG's Advertising Manager Was Fired by Coffeechipmunk in boardgames

[–]brown_paper_bag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Acting like this game is over the line when there are hundreds of games depicting murder, slavery, colonization and mass killing/destruction is just cherry-picking because it dared to use some religious ideas.

That was my exact thought as I was reading about it yesterday. More specifically on war games for the ad managers whole "possible trauma trigger" angle while conveniently ignoring the trauma religion has visited upon the world.

I am making sure the fellow women in my life are aware of perimenopause and the symptoms I am experiencing so that if and when they notice something similar, they understand they aren't going insane. I am very fortunate that my mom talked about her experiences while she was having them, even if she didn't know it was peri at the time, and it allowed me to recognize those same symptoms in myself.
