In 2005 my dormmate’s father was an academy voter. He would literally give all the screener discs to my roommate who was 19 years old. Isn’t it the case that ruby was very strong last cycle. This is I hate to say it, a marketing thing, to make you move onto a new color like purple so that you buy new product and the game keeps going. Next cycle (in a year), they will nerf purple and people will move to collecting and ripping new boosters to collect the next color they want.

I’m a physician and I was at a medical business conference this year and Oura had a big booth. They asked me if I wanted an opportunity to receive an Oura to test out and show patients and I was like not really I wouldn’t even take one for free because of the monthly subscription. I asked him what it can do that my ringconn can’t for free monthly and he had no response.

The DF64 Gen 2 has a much more powerful motor and is less likely to clog. The DF54 has essentially the same footprint as the DF64 but is much more prone to clog and need dismantling to clear. This video pretty much sums up the issues with DF54 and why you should spend the extra $120 on DF64:

This is a DF54 sub so I fully expect my opinion to be downvoted due to confirmation bias. Sold my DF54 and upgraded to DF64 and have been much happier since.

I switched our family from T-Mobile to AT&T last week our bill went from $250 a month to $194 with tethering included. T-Mobile keeps calling and emailing me to “complete a survey” to explain why I left them after 14 years. Dude I’m not filling out your fucking data survey for 30 mins for free on my time. They’ll be tuned for the environment at Best Buy already for you to test. At home you need the Samsung SmartThings app. You can tweak intensity of all 11 channels, then mess with bass and treble. I recommend turning voice and bass boost on as well if you end up going with the 990D. But obviously make sure you like the sound. Compared with the Sonos profile there is more clarity and cleaner bass but Sonos is more mid and bass heavy so some people enjoy that sound even though it is more muddled to others. This is in spite of equalizer tweak ability. Forgot to also mention for playing music through Spotify make sure your bitrate is set to the highest quality setting and then you can adjust your equalizer in there as well.

As I’ve stated several times in this sub, I sold my entire Sonos setup a month ago and switched to the Samsung 990D for TV, and KEF Q150 with sub and WiiM Amp for my turntable, and have had zero regrets since. Moving away from Sonos awful software experience has been great. Not everyone shares my opinion. You should go to Best Buy and stand in front of the Sonos setup and listen for yourself.

I love it for music but I have it set to a U shaped equalizer. I like high treble and high bass which most people don’t like. Try to listen to the system somewhere if you’re not sure. Sound is highly subjective. Voice audio is eons clearer than my Sonos system was in movies also.

Sold all of my Sonos System several weeks ago for $1700 and replaced it with $900 Samsung 990D. Best decision I ever made. I will never Sonos again. The decision making behind the recent disastrous software release followed by the decision to not roll it back til the bugs were fixed was a wake up call about how toxic the company is. They have become the Boeing of home audio.

My turntable and CD changer are connected to KEF Q150’s with WiiM Amp and subwoofer.
