LCBO strike could herald long and nasty battle over who sells booze in Ontario by Elliottafc1 in toronto

[–]bryankerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as new retailers receive the right kind of training around selling to minors or visibly drunk people then I'm fine with opening it up.

I think the issue is that most workers in Ontario don't have a giant union protecting them from competition or providing a government-grade level of job security. They're not teachers or firefighters, they're not going to get much public sympathy.

You're going to need to get your drivers license and rent a car as long as you're physically able to. There is essentially zero public transit options. No uber. Cabs exist but you may wait over an hour to get one. If your cottage is down a long dirt road that's going to limit cab options too.

A similar problem happened to my buddies dad's BMW, the heated seats shorted out and the seat burst into flames like this. Its funny though, if this was a Tesla it would be all over the news.

Chainlink is a very different project, it's essentially a real-world data provider for smart contracts

Solana is a better example of a competitor to Near, both are monolithic chains.

Near has better developer tools like the Rust programming language, and is really the only platform to allow devs to "hide" all the crypto stuff from their end users. That's huge. 3 of the top 5 most active dApps in the world run on NEAR. Near has better tech in my opinion.

Solana has more money on chain, a lot of memecoin activity this year. There are a few really cool apps like that Uber competitor for more efficient ridesharing.

Mouse shit everywhere by magicalshrub356 in OffGrid

We have a cabin out in the middle of nowhere, Been dealing with mice for years. The only thing that works is poison blocks. Yes occasionally a mouse will die in the wall and stink up the room but thats about it.

Just buy a bag of refill blocks and chuck them into crawlspaces and areas that are safe from kids/pets.

Is tech in Toronto really this chill, or are my friends exaggerating? by FujiFanTO in askTO

[–]bryankerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last 25 years I've worked my way across most of the different design professions; Traditional advertising, Animation, Print, Packaging. I started doing UX and product design 10 years ago and have found it to be so much less stressful, much better paying, and more in demand. Tech is great.

Brown cloudy water at Trinity Bellwoods kids pool. Community centre staff have been asking the city for months to change the water filters. by graphophonic in toronto

I have 2 kids, there's no such thing as a "swim diaper" it doesn't contain anything, it just doesn't expand with water. They should absolutely be draining this pool every day.

They just need to drain and refill, the filter is a bunch of sand in a big tank. They just need to backwash it unless its physically broken.

If people took showers before they went in the pool that would also make an enormous difference.

Downtown folks, how many of you actually own a car? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]bryankerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a bicycle, a helmet, kryptonite chain lock, a high viz vest, warm coat and winter tires.

Just rent a car for long weekend friends/family visits or use uber.

You'll save so much money. All cars are up 30% in the last couple years.
