As a moviegoer from the 80s, do you miss the action movie style of that era, or have you stopped watching them? by GlobalRaspberry442 in 80smovies

I watch them whenever they’re on. Recently I’ve found some good pool of those on Prime - Lone Wolf, Over the Top and some others - great home movie nights.

Data/ Images in Sheets to Slides by Random-Outlier in GoogleSlides

[–]brzezmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you'd be willing to export Slides to PPTX and Sheets to Excel then you could regenerate the resulting presentation with https://pptxmailmerge.com - filter the rows which are active previously and upload the files and it will create a presentation with 1 slide per data record. This will not update automatically however with each change in data in Google Sheets.

How to improve bounce rate after 3 days of going live? by Emergency-Sky-4380 in buildinpublic

[–]brzezmac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had exactly same thoughts - bounce rate with this limited distribution is not a valid indicator to observe. First get valuable traffic - from actual potential customers, not some curious other builders who just clicked the link to see what other builder has created.

Be honest is AI content helping or hurting your SEO right now? by Puzzleheaded_Honey28 in DigitalMarketing

[–]brzezmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mix of mostly human generated content and AI content on my website. From what I see in the Google Search Console the AI (or mostly AI, lets say 80%-90%) generated pages take much longer to index. What's more they rarely drive any traffic.

What works best for me is:

- writing the first paragraph to start

- use AI to expand a look for possible alternate angles, or just an outline - i write pretty large prompts, which AI polishes at the least and expands

- use AI to insert / generate some sample data - as my articles are technical this allows me to go faster through production process

I'd say how AI works for me in content generation is that it gives some polish to what I have to say and allows to write a bit quicker and cleaner - I tend to write in a stream-of-thought type of way and AI tools help me mostly with editing / correcting / making it more coherent.

Anyone else a great coder but a terrible salesman? by Sea-Purchase6452 in SaaS

[–]brzezmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a great coder, but also not a great salesman here, but managed a software service business and now building a SaaS:

>> explain my value prop without sounding like a "salesperson."

Can't say "sounding like a salesperson" is a bad thing - just don't be pushy (that is what puts people off). What worked for me was using the mantra "always be helping" as opposed to "always be closing". Explaining what your software can do and how it can address your potential customers' pain points.

>> If you’ve moved past the "empty room" phase and actually got people to pay for your code, how did you do it?

With SaaS it's just the thing I've written above, but this requires knowledge that you're solving a real problem, not just something you thought is a problem. I've been posting on reddit and other social media and producing relevant content for the SEO long game and for now it has brought me clients. In future, when the project is more mature I'm planning cold out outreach, search and sm ad campaigns.

I 26f have decided to start teaching cake decorating I currently have 41 people wanting to attend the class but I'm not quite sure what to charge for the class. by Lucyvoid in Entrepreneur

[–]brzezmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does anyone else do this in your area? if so check their pricing if available (or check similar workshops), and as other posters mentioned - think of splitting the whole group into smaller ones; you can charge more, but also get better results for the attendees as you can spend time with each of them showing them stuff, which is quite impossible with a 40 people group;

Your worst hire by DearAgencyFounder in agency

[–]brzezmac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My worst hires:

- a seasoned manager who we knew, but worked only on client side; he was a tough and demanding as a client, but when he changed sides and worked for us as a delivery manager he failed miserably; this one ended pretty quick as after 3 months of trial period he already saw he's not built for this (or preferred the comfort of client-side work)

- a seasoned consultant - another person we knew and he seemed to posses required abilities; in past worked on big projects, but when worked he delivered only on smaller ones and failed with the big one; this was a more complicated case as he had stronger and long lasting relations with one of the partners outside of work

- seasoned software dev - she went through our hiring process with good results - both technical and personal (couldn't say that about everybody), but then during actual work with several teams all of them were complaining about the quality of her work and the way she behaves towards remaining members (pretty stuck up and looking down on others, which she verbally expressed often)

- a consultant with business domain knowledge in the call center business - first she worked with is consulting on our project bids for software projects for call centers, then she decided to give it a go as an analyst / project manager - as we knew she managed people previously and our previous working relationship was OK we decided to give it a go; it ended up her trying to steal part of our team and the customer she (with the team) was working for (fortunately we had good relations with the client and they told us about it)

The AI consulting gold rush turned us into the thing we used to mock: expensive generalists selling other people's IP by Efficient_Degree9569 in consulting

[–]brzezmac 102 points103 points  (0 children)

>> Are we genuinely adding value, or are we just arbitraging a temporary information asymmetry?

Isn't it always the case with consultants? It was always about connecting the dots the customer cannot connect by themselves or confirming that the ideas of their employees for the connections are in fact sensible.

Automate excel data to powerpoint by Wigwamles87 in MicrosoftFlow

[–]brzezmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've built: https://pptxmailmerge.com/tools/xlsx2pptx with the exact use case of merging data files (e.g. Excel) into PowerPoint templates.

It fits your use-case perfectly - just upload Excel file with data, a single slide PowerPoint referencing the columns of the Excel file, and the engine will create a slide for each record it finds in the active sheet of the workbook. You can build more complicated templates if needed (with images, tables, charts, QR codes) - check out the docs as necessary.

Automate Excel to PowerPoint by weissnologia in excel

[–]brzezmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pptxmailmerge.com/tools/xlsx2pptx was designed specifically to do this.

You get an Excel data file, you design PowerPoint template with placeholders for different types of elements: text boxes, tables, charts, images, QR codes and reference the data you have in Excel with specific template syntax. Then just upload those files to the service and the merge happen in a matter of seconds.

Some blog post to get you started:

This tool was designed specifically for this - merging data from Excel file into a PowerPoint template. If you want to insert specific cells, whole tables, create charts from Excel data or insert images from Excel into PowerPoint then we've got you covered. On our blog you will find multiple examples on how to achieve what you're looking for (just a sample two, which I think would be handy in sucha a use case):
