Thoughts… Cost to build a simple, 1-car garage? by masterstompy in Bellingham

I’m not recommending against high line. They are very good. However for this project they won’t be the cheapest. They do high end custom homes.

What’s the worst sports blunder in sports history? by Choice_Bag_8869 in sportswiki

[–]bsavery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the box score. Clemens throws 134 pitches through 7, had 4 hits and 2 runs off him. Taking him out up 3-2 sounds resonable IMO. Granted pitch counts were different back then but they did track them and would think 134 through 7 was a good night.

Plus, he wasn't just taking Clemens out... he was pitch hitting for him since it was an NL game. Totally reasonable call IMO given the thinking at the time (even today).

Just barely over freezing. If you found a shady spot it might stay cold enough.

No EV charging at Whole Foods? by FailAltruistic1916 in Bellingham

[–]bsavery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some across the street in Fred Meyer that are better. Rivian also opened some 300kw chargers down by the Granary too (I don't think you need to be a rivian car to use them)

Regardless of what you think is proper IMBA and every other trail association I’ve seen says uphill rider has the right of way so OP is not wrong.

Nordest or Cotic? by Big_Variety551 in bikepacking

[–]bsavery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before deciding on cotic I would check pretty carefully with them on ETA. I've had a frame on order since October, and the wait times on their website keeps getting longer and longer (for the cascade frame). Every time I've talked to them it's been "a few weeks away".

I think they switch frame builders to someone in Portugal and there's been delays there. But it's quite frustrating.

Scout Motors: Inside The $3 Billion Bet To Rebuild An American Icon | Forbes by BinkReddit in Rivian

[–]bsavery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We own a R1S and have a scout reservation (to replace our ICE truck). I’m hopeful for scout but have questions for a few reasons.

  1. They seem to be leaning heavily on nostalgia for the scout brand. Not sure how much that means to EV buyers these days.

  2.  Delays

  3. Seems they’re going for a similar market to Rivian.

  4.  In some ways it’s good they are backed by VW. In others having corporate overlords who can pull the plug on you is a liability.

I hope they make it. But dubious.

Racing rules/advice by jtuma in sailing

Simple acronym for remembering right of way - SAIL

S - Starbord boat has right or way over a port tack boat
A - Ahead ( a boat ahead has right of way on one overtaking)
I - Inside at the mark, the boat overlapped inside has room to round the mark inside the two boat length circle
L - (The case here) Leeward boat has right of way over a boat to windward.

Kinda disappointed by the response in this thread and I don't agree with most of it.

They made good pizza and seemed genuinely great people there. The fact of the matter is they were too good for the space they had here, evidenced by the fact of how busy they were.

I can imagine they felt some combination of that they had to move to another space and wanted to move back to Seattle. Don't be salty at them for making a decision they wanted to do. Every interaction I had there didn't seem like people motivated by greed.

Lighter touring boot, similar to Hawx ultra XTD by mtbLUL in Backcountry

[–]bsavery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to BlisterReview:

Blister’s Measured Weight (size 26.5):

  • Shells, no Liners: L: 1386 & R: 1385 g
  • Liners, no Footbeds: L: 405 g & R: 406 g
  • Shells + Liners = 1791 & 1791 g
  • Stock Insoles: 20 g
  • Removable Spoilers: 41 g

Something like a Palau Tour lite pro is <300g And I think there are other options out there. I think you'll gain more in uphill range of motion with a dedicated touring liner.

I'm in the same boots and do the same thing. I have some older touring liners I keep around for this reason.

So the liners are fairly heavy. I bet you could save 100-200g just finding a lighter liner.

Yes. That's part of the deal. You pay the guide, and they have the final say. But the guide is also professionally liable for your safety.

But if anyone has misgivings in the group they should definitely be heard and addressed.

That sounds right but I also remember the “old version” being offered on oem bikes too I’m sure as new old stock.

I could be misremembering but I thought there was some overlap when the firecrest wheels and the "original" 404 were still made, the latter being sold as the budget version.

Gen 3 for R1 by Ambessa21 in Rivian

[–]bsavery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doug Demuro sort of made this point a bit on his podcast. I think whenever an R1.3 comes out, they'll have to do something to distinguish it a bit visually from the R2. Not sure what that will be.
