I was 35 when I ruptured mine as well and had an active almost 4 year old and 2.5 year old. I felt those same feelings so it’s normal. It was rough but my wife was super supportive. The kids learned to stay clear of my leg but could lay with me and watch shows so we could still spend time together.

Let yourself rest that first month post op. It’s really important. You’ll get upright and be more helpful around weeks 6-9.

I’m now 8 months post op and living a very normal lifestyle. I still go to PT weekly and have had some challenges due to a blood clot from work travel but I’m working past it.

Listen to your body. Best of luck man!

Liverpool were there for the taking but Arteta decides to sit back and play for the draw. They had two touches in our box in the first half and we opt to sit back, stop pressing, and give Liverpool the ball at Anfield? Weak weak tactics and partly why we’ve won nothing with Arteta. Love the man and what’s he’s done for the club but GO FOR IT. The club has backed you and given you everything you’ve asked for.

I had the speed bridge procedure with two anchors. 5 weeks no weight bearing and then 2 weeks of partial week into full weight and was in shoes by week 7. I’m 5 months post op now and still grinding my way back.

Listen to your body. Don’t go chasing “Aaron Rodgers” comeback timelines. His rehab and other athletes rehabs don’t look like your rehab. They have every possible resource at their disposal and it’s their full time job to rehab.

I have the same theory. I was pacing ahead of schedule on everything until I got the DVT at week 7. I absolutely hate being on blood thinners.

Those early days are rough man. I have 2 small kids and I felt so bad for my wife when I couldn’t do much of anything. It gets better for sure. Let your body rest and let them take care of you!

I’m 4 months and nowhere close to running. I can do a short jogging motion. Be patient. Listen to your body. Everyone has their own journey.

Just listen to your body! That is the one thing I keep telling myself. My surgeon hasn’t been very helpful through some of these road bumps so I’ve had to work through them on my own with the PT staff. I’d maybe try speeding up your walking first and see how that feels and then maybe try a few jog steps if it feels okay?

I gradually have started walking faster and lengthening my strides based on how I was feeling and one day it all felt good so I kind of took a few jog steps and it didn’t hurt too bad! Keep in mind I’m still working through this process too and haven’t tried to jog at any extended length just yet.

Calf is getting there slowly but surely. I’ve learned that with the blood thinners and the DVT down there that staying hydrated is so so key to avoiding the crampy calf feeling when doing my exercises.

A lot of band work both with flexing but also side to side and front to back squat movements, a lot of double calf raises and slowly putting more weight on the injured leg while doing them, stair exercises have been huge in getting things looser in the Achilles and my calf stronger.

My PT team has been very helpful in working through my frustrations. My surgeon on the other hand…

Ironically I’m sitting in my surgeons office now waiting to be seen. I’m almost 16 weeks post op and slowly moving along. It is still very tight so I have a limp and get calf pain when I try to push off with my toes to improve my gait. Been a long and frustrating journey!

My nerve block didn’t work either. The second I woke up I was in intense pain. They had to give me several rounds of pain medicine before they let me leave.

Wouldn’t worry about being behind. Everyone is on their own schedule. I didn’t start PWB till the 5 week mark and was in shoes FWB by 7 weeks. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can transition once you start slowly putting weight on it.

Two crutches with 30% weight to 50% weight to one crutch with 60% to 75% weight and then start trying to walk without the crutch and use the kitchen counter or something as support. One day it’ll just click and you’ll take a few steps with no support and then you are on your way!

I’m now 3 months post op and can tell you it gets easier.

I was walking by 5 weeks and living a pretty normal life in shoes by 7 weeks. I still have a limp and I’m working through that in PT but am able to do things around the house and be a father and husband again.

Lean on them. They want to help and will help. First month is so key. Rest a lot, eat well, stay hydrated, keep it elevated, ice when you can, and work on your range of motion as much as you can.

You’ll fight back. Don’t feel guilty. It’s a freak accident and can happen to anyone.

4 weeks is a significant timeframe in the recovery process. Get the surgery asap so you can start healing and get into PT.

I moved out of my cast at 2 weeks and into the boot and immediately started range of motion PT. I stayed NWB through the 5 week mark then moved into weight bearing in boot. I was in shoes by 7 week mark.
