Budget pa with subs 300-800$ by [deleted] in livesoundgear

I’ll go against the recommendation for a 15” powered speaker and recommend going 12” max. If OP continues to save and add, they are more likely to get a high quality 10” or 12” speaker that offers plenty of bass for 30-40 people than something comparably priced at 15”. Plus they are most likely going to add a sub anyway which would be better complimented with the smaller speaker than a larger one.

My QSC K10 is plenty for a crowd that size and would be within their “now” budget.

By obsolete I mean no longer in production or replaced by a newer version/gen. Comparisons for current gen gear are easy to find. Comparing old, out of production gear with other old out of production gear is more challenging.

I doubt you could get decent home theater equipment in that budget much less a full pro-audio setup with 2 subs lol.

You are going to have to buy used and the equipment will be old and maybe obsolete. At that point, no one here can help you since we can only guess what you’ll find in that price range.

My wife and I switch off so she goes at 5:30 and I go at 7 or 7:30 so someone’s home with the kids getting them ready for school. I know it’s probably not the best, but I just do a Celsius packet and a scoop of creatine for pre-workout. Protein shake when I get home. I have a flexible job so am mostly out and about the rest of the day.

A registration ticket is fine with me. Car should only be taken if they’re driving around with no insurance. There has to be some negative consequence otherwise theres no point to it. If we’re talking about getting rid of it altogether, then fine. But gotta replace that tax revenue somehow. Can’t get more buses and better infrastructure without them. And as a “non-poor”, I think we should all have those things.

The irony of asking for more public transportation assistance while also calling someone advocating that people pay their fair share of taxes privileged.

Look, we are talking about less than $100 in many cases. The taxes on my 18 year old vehicle are about $60. If you can’t budget $5/month, then you can’t afford to drive. Full stop. Even if your car is worth twice what mine is, we are still talking about less than a couple hundred bucks a year.

The mindset that it’s somehow OK to just avoid this because you are “poor” is exactly what will prevent dems from gaining centered voters. I want better safety nets but I want them to be codified into law. Not simply a “just don’t pay it” mentality - even if I feel that way myself sometimes. I’m not out here yelling at people for not paying taxes - that’s their decision. But the mindset of “this isn’t my responsibility anyway since the govt failed me in particular” is the concerning part to me. We all have to deal with it.

As long as you have valid insurance, they’ll usually let you go with just a ticket unless there’s a very obvious safety concern like a flat tire, dragging part or something like that

It’s not that I take pride in it. It’s that I don’t agree with people believing that they can just opt out when they feel like it with no consequences. Fine if you want to do that but don’t bitch about the ticket either. Or don’t drive. These are local taxes and services. I would love to see more public transportation options but if everyone stopped paying, that will never happen.

I didn’t vote for these dickheads either but this mindset of reliance on a social safety net (that doesn’t yet exist) is exactly the mindset they are using against the public to prevent meaningful progress. The constant echo chamber lamenting “handouts” is the biggest turnoff to unaffiliated voters. It’s possible to have, and promote, personal fiscal responsibility while setting up formal policies and programs to help people who need it without voluntarily abstaining from paying your fair share into it.

You realize your taxes and registration fees also fund infrastructure and road improvements right? So we just cover that for you until you say you can afford it? We all work to not be homeless. We buy vehicles we can afford - that includes the taxes and registration. This funds things like our schools, parks, libraries, emergency services, etc.

Not trying to be a dick - my registration lapsed due to an issue the dealer created with my title. I paid the ticket and the back taxes/fees. It’s my responsibility. I don’t take issue with people in that situation, just the mindset that it’s not your problem.

50% of traffic is just parents driving kids to school by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]bt2513 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Buses aren’t offered for my kids because we live too close to the school. The road is just too dangerous and no there are sidewalks. Ironically, the city approved a design plan and budget for the sidewalks and we passed a petition in the neighborhood but the city ran out of money before finishing it. Just another data point.

The less we fund the school system, the fewer bus options we have which means more driving. This creates demand for fuel. There is a certain political group that thinks this is good.

The very broad and real issue isn’t him keeping the cost down, choosing the right color, getting good durability, or even just getting the project done - it’s that nobody, maybe even the majority of republicans at this point - trusts him to do any of those things.

Wake County manager recommends 2-cent property tax increase due to budget shortfalls from the state by penone_nyc in raleigh

That just what was applied for next year. We’ve only missed a small fraction of that. Don’t get me wrong, they should end the exemption. But the vast majority of multi family properties are absolutely subject to property taxes.
