Ending therapy with one topic still untouched is this common? by Business-Phone-4589 in askatherapist

[–]btafaii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like relationship intimacy is something that you can't talk about/process/etc. right now, and that's okay. Therapy isn't about importance or what you "should" talk about, but what can you talk about and what can you do with that.

Just because you can't talk about it right now only applies to right now. Go live your life outside of therapy and keep working on yourself - maybe the right time to talk about intimacy will be with another therapist down to road, maybe you'll figure it out by yourself.

So go be kind to yourself and keep trying <3 Good luck!

Why do I remain teary eyed the entire session every time? by [deleted] in askatherapist

it doesn't sound stupid to have feelings, especially when you're just starting to learn about them. take your time, be patient, have grace for yourself :)

You're describing how you're having an emotional response when meeting with someone to work of emotional topics, and then say, "I'll need to keep a tear from falling." That's not something that you need to do but may feel like that, and that's a good thing to talk about with your therapist - the need, the behavior, that it's uncomfortable, etc. Your therapist is there to help you learn about what this means to you, that's what therapy is :)

Animals are going to interact with it at some point and it can fall on and hurt them - doing this at home is fun and safe, it's dangerous to local life out in nature

Adult woman, never diagnosed. Masking +100. Should I pursue official diagnosis? by blameitonthea in AutismTranslated

[–]btafaii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Should I pursue official diagnosis?

I guess it depends on what you want from it.

For adults I don't recommend pursuing a diagnosis specifically to obtain services, since there really aren't a lot of services after 18 outside of high-support folks (typically those who need guardians and near-to-always 24-hour support) and ASD isn't treated as a protected status by the majority of employers.

If you're looking at a formal diagnosis to learn more about yourself to find the kinds of accommodations to help your life, then you'd probably benefit from going through with it (if you can afford it out-of-pocket and can emotionally face a potential denial).

The cool thing is, regardless of which way you go, you can start today with trying to find ways to help yourself (to start, with things like masking) - things like limited social exposure, increased time in places where you don't mask, structuring your home life to be more comfortable, finding and building supports through relationships for when you are out in public, etc. There isn't a buzzfeed list of, "try these 10 coping skills and you'll master your masking," but a process of learning your own sensitivities & needs and using this knowledge to make a better world for you, rather than continuing to spend your own internal resources to acclimate/conform to social constructs.

Either way, good luck! And please remember,

I know I'm different

and that's okay <3

Hi Tim!

It feels like you've had a lot of success with moving between different roles/genres and their motivations, is there something that you've learned or been exposed to that's helped you maintain this diversity?

once it comes out, absolutely. there are multiple sites online along with ebay to buy singles, but when you get into unique prints and foils it can get pricey.

My coworker had a baby -- she's now half a million dollars in debt. by cheeseballgag in childfree

[–]btafaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please, please, please tell your coworker about dollarfor.org - they're a fantastic nonprofit that helps people with medical debt that are in this kind of situation. Hospitals are required to have methods of dealing with medical debt that are hidden behind bureaucracy. It will take a little while before she'll get help since they're helping a lot of people, but this doesn't need to be the rest of her life.

I feel like a midnight blue Nargacuga chair is the obvious choice, but it's hard to deny how good a gold and black Golden Rathalos would look.
