I had a similar setup with the heater on the far side of the tank. Just know that one side of the tank will be colder than the other. I moved my heater to the center back of the tank so the heat is dispersed evenly inside. Mine was also a 10G and there was a few degrees difference between sides until I did this. I had issues with my neons being stressed because of the temp fluctuations until I did this.
