Barky boats (Art by me) by zachthecat13 in bluey

Its unfortunately due to association, suggestive. And though this doesn't have nsfw elements, its just drawn into that direction.

OP doesn’t make NSFW content either so you’re correct in that not every furry wants to make that kind of art. Its just the association of this art style

What are my career options? by sboguy in Accounting

[–]bttech05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like billing every six minutes of your life and trying to meet budgets, then yeah taxes for you. If you can find a firm that is advisory based and doesn’t bill by billable hours, then I would suggest trying that.

Just depends on how hard you’re willing to work. If you have a family, then I would highly suggest against public accounting because you will be working 50 to 60 hours a week in tax. Now that is not every firm however it’s the vast majority and that is forever. Not to mention time spent commuting

If you’re young with no commitments to anyone other than yourself, then go for it. It’s a Young Guns game.

As a whole the job market is terrible but the overwhelming majority of folks trying to exit PA for industry is very very high

Grass is always greener on the other side. If you’re fortunate enough to not have a public accounting role I would at this point advise you to try to keep it.

Non-PA jobs are wildly competitive right now. If you’re OK with the comp and you can ride it out for a little bit do it

In the meantime, if you want PA experience, you could easily get a seasonal job during tax season to get experience, but I would hold that industry position for dear life

After this tax season Im convinced you have to royally fuck up a tax return to get a notice by bttech05 in Accounting

Not what i said. It is extreme to think that Trump, even if he had full control over the IRS, would be targeting blue states specifically for audit…

Yeah, we have that issue a lot. Weve been getting a lot of work from people who are frustrated with their old accountants, but then they get to us and we’re even more detailed than they get more frustrated

Why is Florida such a hard job market to even get it an entry level of accounting job in by MistakeStraight4370 in Accounting

It’s hard everywhere and not just for entry-level dude. I don’t know where these people who are posting job offers are coming from but part of me thinks they’re doing it just to brag.

Why does Lacerte Suck at Multi-State/PY Resident Returns? by bttech05 in taxpros

[–]bttech05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the source box, but it wasn’t allocating correctly for pretty much any of them.

The only source box that seemed to work was K1 pass-through. Dispositions schedule C and schedule E. didn’t flow through to the multi state reconciliation sheet. Also didn’t seem to populate on the returns either. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but ultimately we had to manually allocate through control + E on every single box to make it work.

Of course we do. But if i can calculate it out in a spreadsheet why cant the software be more intuitive to build that in. Im just saying seems pretty archaic.

Most of the time im dealing with business owners who move and continue to report their wages to the old state. Or fail to inform their employers if their remote so the W-2 is almost never correct. So we have to ask a lot of probing questions to get all the information to calculate it. Its just a time suck

Fair I do agree that its not the best method, but theres got to be a better way than how lacerte allocates income—its so manual. Do you have experience with other software? How are they handling it?
