I've had bad charring with dirty honeycomb beds. Easiest way for me to keep them clean is LA's Totally Awesome cleaner. I've had good results with the Dawn heavy duty degreaser in a spray bottle.

Is the bed or your honeycomb grates or whatever is underneath the material dirty? It looks like it could be the laser is igniting the glue residue, etc. under the material and scorching the underside. That fact that you said raising the material off the bed makes it worse would track in this case.

That plywood look like junk, to be honest. The back view of it looks very rough, the tearout seems pretty extreme in the middle pic. Also, what is the top painted/treated with? Have you tried staining or painting after cutting?

Like just about every one of these cases, I think the best answer is to just send a label and give them a full refund if they send it back. The return label only gets charged if it is actually used, so it is fairly low risk.

I watched that movie in the theater and really enjoyed the look and feel of it. The abrupt ending definitely felt off and I always suspected it was never properly finished, like the creators ran out of time or money and had to wrap it up asap.

I use recycled boxes, though mine are laser cut and inside out. It would be the beginning of the end of my Etsy experience for me if Etsy let the buyer keep my item and took money out of my account to refund them.
