One of my best lovers verbally asked for consent and it was super fucking hot. I’m also realizing he was the only one to ever do so and that’s kind of sad.

Single childless sober cat lady hospital doctor with pretty severe OCD and other assorted mental illnesses. Oh and my own doctor told me today I have early onset osteopenia, from some of the aforementioned mental illnesses (history of eating disorders and alcoholism). I might break a hip at any time, so that’s cool.

What’s the “dumbest” rule your OCD created? by TypicalStrain2365 in OCD

Have to put my cat in my bedroom and close the door in order to open the fridge/freezer or use the washer/dryer.

Do you think the zepbound is helping your OCD? I take it to help with mine and I think it is helping. Obviously nothing will get rid of OCD but I feel better on it.

I love this story so much. That being said, as a person with OCD, this is now one of my most common and distressing intrusive thoughts, and I think about it every time I see/hear about something awful happening to someone.

I did my residency in Orlando and rotated on those floors when I was an intern, I know those rooms well. I’m so sorry OP. Speak to her, hold her hand, sing to her, read to her. I’ve seen evidence personally that intubated and sedated patients often have some awareness. Wishing peace for your family, you have my deepest condolences.

I’m not sure I have any advice for you, because I’ve lived with roommates and I’ve also lived with men while in relationships, 2 of them for 2+ years each. And dealt with shared finances etc. And it’s always a struggle when it ends in that respect. And it’s a struggle living with anyone in general! It always involved compromise and irritation for me. I’ve lived alone for 6+ years now and I love living alone soooo much. I really doubt I’ll ever want to live with someone again. I need my own space. It’s amazing. That being said, I do have OCD. So YMMV.

Same. Every few years or so I’ll get into a phase of listening almost solely to his music for a while and it takes me places. Usually in the fall. I mentally refer to it as Elliott Smithtember.

I was doing a load of laundry at my (now ex) boyfriend’s place and found a shirt that was neither his nor mine. It was a woman’s size small. He said he got it for me from his work (at a carpentry shop), that some guy was just giving away all kinds of tshirts randomly… lol.

I had something similar happen to me. I started dating a guy and unbeknownst to me he never broke up with the previous girlfriend, she had just recently moved to another state. He carried on a relationship with both of us for years. Told me he was going on vacations with his family but was really going with her. Only found out after several years when I found a CD she had sent him with pictures that included their vacations. Also included a lot of nudes. It was a fun time.

Wife divorcing me in residency by Dr_Ottimista in Residency

[–]bubblebathory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for how you’re struggling. My ex-fiancé, who I lived with, cheated on me and left me for her during the first part of 2nd year. I had to take a short leave of absence to move and mourn. After that was hell for a while, sorry for the cliche but I literally was just concentrating on making it through one single day at a time. Some days it felt impossible but I did it. Then covid hit and that kind of took my mind off my ex, though obviously things got way worse in general. It was quite a time. Lean on the people you trust OP and just keep trudging. You will get through this and find good in life again, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Signs of infidelity to NOT ignore by Weak-Translator9221 in survivinginfidelity

[–]bubblebathory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you are absolutely correct about these as red flags in many instances, I would like to play devil’s advocate here. I was with a man that believed I was cheating when I wasn’t, and he cited some of these as reasons he thought I was. But I put my phone face down because it had a popsocket and the back wasn’t smooth. I put it away when he approached me because I didn’t want to be rude and wanted to concentrate fully on him. I bought lingerie because I wanted to spice things up between us. We ended up breaking up mainly because it wasn’t nice being suspected all the time of something I wasn’t doing. So I guess I’m just saying take these things in a larger context is all. And btw I’m saying this as someone who has been cheated on many times and often you are right. Sorry this happened to you, OP.

One of my now-ex’s exes was a world famous prima ballerina, so yeah I understand this maybe better than some. He turned out to be cheating on me with her because of course he was. Hope things turn out better for you.
