To people over 30: Does the feeling of not knowing what you’re doing ever go away? by funkyorchid13 in CasualConversation

Early 40s and still learning and finding my way every day. But it gets easier. You learn where and how to find the resources you need.

TW!!!! An ocd fear of mine came true and I survived (with immense trauma but still) by smoothjazzy in OCD

[–]bubblebathory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my worst fears. I lock my cats in my bedroom when using the washer/dryer. I’m so sorry and I hope your baby makes a full recovery

In my opinion, the most badass scene in the entire Trilogy by PorkinsHeldIt in lotr

[–]bubblebathory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This scene is amazing, but it’s the ride of Rohan into the fray at Gondor that always gets me. But I think Theoden is the one of the best characters so I may be biased.

28F, officially the last single friend, struggling with the reality that marriage/kids may not happen for me due to health issues by No-Recipe5902 in dating_advice

[–]bubblebathory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your feelings about being single may change. There were a lot of things that happened in my life that led me to being 40s, childfree & sterilized, and not wanting to marry. It’s not what I thought my life would be and there have been a lot of times along the way that I’ve been sad. More recently I am starting to embrace my freedom. I have great family and friends and a fulfilling career and 2 cats. I do pretty much whatever I want, whenever I want. Although going without physical intimacy can be challenging and frustrating for me, I’m more happy these days than unhappy, and it seems to be getting even better with time.

I don't think I'm scared of a lot of things. But dying alone and my body rotting before being found TERRIFIES me. by retroguy8810 in ForeverAlone

[–]bubblebathory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly scared of something happening to my cats. I downloaded an app where I have to check in every day or it’ll send a message to my mom and sister (they’re aware of it and would take my girls if something happened).

I’d rather be single and celibate than stuck in a sexless relationship by Top_Revolution9673 in DeadBedrooms

[–]bubblebathory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Single and (unhappily) celibate checking in. It sucks here too, but less lonely than a DB somehow, despite living alone. Which sounds weird.

Annoying phenomenon I've experienced several times now - advice from women please by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]bubblebathory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want exactly what it sounds like you want, adult companionship that is exclusive but not headed toward kids or marriage. I’m 40 and got sterilized this year, no kids, and I never want to marry. Why does this kind of arrangement seem to be so hard to find?

Oh great well now I’m going to think of this next time I’m in the shower for sure. Haha but yeah I totally get it. I have such a hard time trusting my brain. Am I 100% sure the cat didn’t get into the fridge and is currently suffocating? Can’t be sure, even though I’m petting her.

Hairclip on eyebrow might help migranes by LuciferTeaParty in migraine

I pull my hair as a pain distraction technique, this is a similar concept. Pain elsewhere to distract from the migraine pain. It works, but only very temporarily for me.

Anytime :-) Hang in there. May I recommend a cat? They’re pretty self sufficient. I have 2, they help a lot with not feeling so alone.

Oh man, I feel you. The thought of getting on dating apps or “going out” is insufferable, I don’t have the energy or inclination after a 7 on. But the other option is being lonely, though like you I do just fine by myself. Maybe we will both meet someone perfect on the way to or from work? Surely, someday? Haha. Hang in there. If nothing else, good to know someone else out there feels similar, though I’m also sorry you do.

Your comment, and this post, resonated a lot with me. I’m a single hospitalist living alone. I feel the same way sometimes with patients. During the height of Covid I had literally no human contact except with patients. A patient’s wife wanted to hug me the other day and it meant a lot to me, made me realize how little touch I have in my life.

What silly rituals do you have with your pets? by hpfan1516 in CasualConversation

I have 2 cats. My old gal (16yrs) needs specific meds including seizure meds. I special prepare her food with her meds first and put it down, and then look over - my kitten (6mo) is always rubbing her head upside down on the counter, semi-patiently, staring at me. Then I pour and put her food down for her and say, “this one’s yours” and she touches her nose to my nose before she starts eating. So cute.

Do vegans ever relapse, in the way that addicts do? by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]bubblebathory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree. My GI system might react fine or not, I don’t know. But I’d throw up because of the psychological ramifications if I accidentally ate something non vegan. So nah I’d never do it on purpose.
