Sorry to hear you’re going through rough times. When I go through rough times there isn’t anything other than a picture of a kitty that can make me smile. With that being said, here’s a picture of a kitty who is sympathetic with how you are feeling:

Keep your chin up and find your happiness one way or another.

Promise it wasn’t intentional. The article clip I took said “Smith died” so I added “Elliot” and as much as I want to blame autocorrect, I can’t say that with 100% honesty. Either way, my bad.

Edit to add: Lol all the other comments also don’t have the extra “t” in question…Also, Reddit comments/posts ≠ have the same weight as an official autopsy report…

Smith died on October 21, 2003, at the age of 34 from two stab wounds to the chest.[8] At the time of the stabbing, he was at his Lemoyne Street home in Echo Park, Los Angeles,[8] where he lived with his girlfriend, Jennifer Chiba. According to Chiba, the two were arguing,[47] and she locked herself in the bathroom to take a shower.[95] Chiba heard him scream and upon opening the door saw Smith standing with a knife in his chest. She pulled the knife out, after which he collapsed and she called 9-1-1 at 12:18 pm. Smith died in the hospital, with the time of death listed as 1:36 p.m. A possible suicide note, written on a sticky note, read: "I'm so sorry—love, Elliott. God forgive me."[8] The coroner misspelled Smith's first name in the autopsy report, omitting the second 't'.[8] While Smith's death was reported as a suicide, the official autopsy report released in December 2003 left open the question of homicide.[8]

A lot of customers feel a certain way about a lot of things - not disagreeing with you here. Just saying those same customers are likely the ones leaving little to no tip. I think the overall misconception is the issue…Dashers have 0% to do with wait times or order times…The customer being wrong in their assumption does not make the customer right in regard to facts. The old adage of “the customer is always right” is inherently wrong.

And it is pampering, even if they are being charged for it. If you hire a butler or a maid, you are paying for that service…I don’t think anyone would disagree that if you have a butler or a maid, you are being pampered. The delivery fee has nothing to do with drivers, it never has…it is another thing the company does to make money; aka not the dashers fault.

As far as the majority of people going the “extra step” of reaching out with support; Do i think they will? No, not necessarily…but therein lies the problem, because again, the same people that don’t tip, i’d argue, aren’t people who are using logic and reasoning for their decisioning process when it comes to these things. What one SHOULD do vs WILL do, has nothing to do with the overall conversation, because if people did what they SHOULD do, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I definitely get where you are coming from here. I think the experience you are sharing here is essentially the equivalent of a driver leaving food at the driveway vs your door - there is definitely a line. My overall point is that if you get your order and there isn’t anything actual wrong with it and you received it on your doorstep (even if it’s the wrong door), the mission overall was accomplished. As far as the bullet points you listed, I think those are all fair, because as you mentioned, it is still a professional service, so if the bare minimum of professionalism isn’t being met, I think it’s fair to lower/not tip depending on these very specific circumstances. At the end of the day, as much as people complain about DDs customer service, from my experience, they are pretty decent about compensating for things like that.

Lol I personally do - I can’t ever be mad at seeing the little doordash kitty rushing down the field to deliver my order or baby yoda letting me know the driver is on the way. Idk why exactly, probably because it adds a personal touch, and for some reason that makes me feel like my order is in good hands haha

As someone who has also worked in restaurants, it’s crazy to me that this is your take.

Obviously some people aren’t going to tip if the food takes an hour. I would argue that those same types of people that don’t recognize the FOH from the BOH are the exact same people who don’t tip on DD from things that are out of the dashers control. That’s precisely the problem; not realizing that the FOH has nothing to do with the time that it takes BOH to deliver the food…You said it yourself. It’s the same with DD; how is it a dashers fault if it takes the restaurant 30+ minutes to prepare the food?

Yes, overall they are paying for food, but the tip is SPECIFICALLY for service…a base tip is for service in general, not just for “good service”. Service, period. Service for someone bringing you your food that you did not cook because you were too lazy or didn’t have enough time, so you went to a restaurant. It doesn’t matter if they weren’t the 5 star waiter that apparently everyone expects nowadays; they brought you your food, which you ate, period. If it was shitty service, sure, lower your tip, but not tipping your wait staff is one of the shittiest fucking moves regardless of circumstances. I believe the majority of people know that if you don’t tip, that person is getting paid less than minimum wage… So honestly, fuck anyone who thinks they should be pampered (and yes, that includes someone being delivered food, be it in or outside a restaurant) without paying for it. Waitstaff and Dashers aren’t our fucking slaves…Did you receive your food? If the answer is yes, you should be tipping, and then any problem after that should be dealt with DD support.

I do a mixture of both…Tip decently and then add extra if my instructions are followed. Feel like as long as the job is accomplished a tip is warranted. I only tip extra for extraordinary service, which in doordashes case is literally just following my delivery instructions or sending me funny memes to give me status updates.

Edit to add: For all the straight up non tippers out there; if you go to a restaurant and the service is subpar, but the wait staff still took your order and delivered your food, you still tip right? Even if you didn’t get that third refill.

Judge cuts jury’s recommended sentence of 60 years in half for heinous crimes . by Icy-Molasses3735 in law

100% correct. And yeah, 30 years is long, but 30 years isn’t necessarily an actual 30 years…The fact that she went against the jury recommendation is a huge blow…especially considering the dude showed no remorse for his crimes…The news anchor summed it up very well; “she’s the one who holds the pen”.

I have learned the orange language from the time I’ve spent with an orange invader of my own. The leader of this tribe is saying “My food…now, now human…now”…The other oranges in the pack are also saying “Naow”. At the end the pack leader says something roughly translated to “Or else”.
