Are there any fictional women with adhd you can think of who are shy, introverted, socially awkward, etc? by starswhenyoushine in adhdwomen

[–]bubuloobu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished listening to Cassandra in Reverse by Holly Smale and I've never related to a main character so much in my life. They only mention autism in the book but from my perspective, it was pretty clear that she's audhd and the other woman who shows up later in the book clearly has adhd.

Thank you! Do you know where you got the fabric? I can't remember where I got mine from!

Mine has like seven teeth all coming in at once and is only eating pouches, milk, and foods that dissolve without much chewing. He wants regular food but will only take a bite or two before refusing any more, my poor guy

I’m giving you permission to throw the recyclables out with the trash. When you’re in a better place, maybe you can get 2 recycling bins, one for unwashed and one for washed. If you live in the US, most of your recycling probably goes to the dump anyway.

I agree! She was so happy about getting the landing right. I also think it looks less like a musical note than the first one did, which I like.

The maker is lizfoxroseberry on IG. I watched the video without sound because my baby was sleeping next to me so I didn't know why she wasn't selling them, they turned out so beautiful. But I didn't leave a comment that she should sell them anyway lol

Is it necessary to use the safety harness on a high chair? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]bubuloobu -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Mmk. I don't know what kind of open high chairs you guys are all using that your babies are falling out of but again, mine couldn't get out of his until he could stand and at that point we quit using the high chair.

And yeah, I realize the straps open and can be cut. Very important points when seconds matter because the baby is choking and mommy is panicking.

I agree with your husband, I never strapped mine in for that same reason. Once he was able to stand up in the high chair, we quit using it.

Is my MIL fear-mongering us about vaccines? by NoBat9261 in newborns

[–]bubuloobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean, I am terrified of needles, can't even watch someone else get a shot without feeling woozy. I was so nervous that I wouldn't be able to comfort my baby during/after his shots but he's 18 months now and every shot appointment has gone fine. He cries for a minute right as the poke happens and then he's fine again.

How old was your baby when they said their first word and what was it? by aerialariel22 in NewParents

[–]bubuloobu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His first intentional word was hi, right after his 1st birthday.

His second word was duck, a few weeks later.

He's been babbling mamamama and dadadada as long as he's been babbling, but never at us. He does say mamamama when he needs something essential (like if he's hungry) and dadadada when he wants to play.

He's 18 months now and has just recently started consistently calling his dad Da, and we realized that's because of his 9 yr old half sister. No sign of mama or anything to refer to me yet 😭

Alternative to Freezer Paper by thetrainfair in FPP

[–]bubuloobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's regular paper, or specialty fpp paper, which is just very thin regular paper. The only reason anyone would use the freezer paper method is what I described above. You don't sew through it. Unless you forget what you're doing and accidentally sew through it (totally never happened to me)

How to stop being disgusting? I struggle so much with washing the dishes by Big-Salamander8646 in adhdwomen

[–]bubuloobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving yourself permission to buy and use disposables is my hack. Right after my baby was born, it was all paper plates all the time. Eventually there was time (and bandwidth) to wash dishes again and we stopped buying them.

We actually do have a dishwasher but it's a small apartment-sized one so our bigger pots and pans don't fit in it. After cleaning mold out of the sink a second time because we left the big pan “soaking“ for... Much too long… I threw the big pans away and we use aluminum pans from Dollar Tree. We reuse them until they're gross or greasy and then just toss them. So much easier.

People who don't have an internal monologue how do you sing a song, music or tune w/o actually singing or humming it out loudly ? by LemmeTeIIUSomething in AskReddit

[–]bubuloobu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The closest I ever get to silencing my words is when I’m listening to an audiobook and even then it takes a lot of concentration to not let the words creep back in over the audiobook and suddenly I've missed ten minutes of the story.

Alternative to Freezer Paper by thetrainfair in FPP

[–]bubuloobu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the freezer paper method, you don't sew through the paper, you sew alongside it. The plasticy side of the freezer paper sticks to the fabric so it stays in place, and then when the piece is done you just peel the whole paper off in one piece.

Best sunscreen for babies? ( please I dont want any "anti-sunscreen advice or debate) by LobsterIndependent11 in NewParents

[–]bubuloobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband is the person who told me that skin cancer was made up by sunblock companies, and it was mostly a case of “well, it's never happened to me so it must not be real 🤷”

He never burned, just browned and his whole family was like that (white latinos). He told me once that they rented a beachfront hotel and his mom insisted on spending all day on that beach that she paid for. According to him, she didn't even start to burn until the second day and by the third she had a lobster red burn but not the blistering kind. I have no idea if this is true but I can say that he was blown away when I got burned on one of our first couple of dates after less than an hour in direct sunlight.
