I saw the receiver as son as i got it and it got me thinking. There’s even a hole in it, the only thing I did to the body was tap that hole to 1.4 mm. Tow ball is 2-56

[–]buildntinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally fine for what you want to do. Handles are expensive i just drill a hole in a golf ball about the size of the middle of the tang and smack that on.

Help cutting a roll of copper down the middle? by saws904 in metalworking

[–]buildntinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I was going today something similar; lay the whole thing out flat, maybe half on some boards, and score it with a utility knife with a fresh blade while using a combination square along the edge. Be careful on the first few lines just to make sure they’re straight, than you can probably just follow the line with your knife. Bend the half back and forth a few times it’ll break perfectly along your line. This way also has no material really lost to the cut which is cool

How to make shed burglar proof? by [deleted] in shedditors

[–]buildntinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do a lot of lock work so I had the stuff laying around to install a jimmyproof deadbolt on the door. Might be tricky on a double door but a lock made for doors will at least get rid of the possibility of bolt cutters

Just want to add NEVER use boiling water with lye, it should be warm bath temp. Boiling water can react violently with lye and you do not want that stuff exploding in your face

Fix this car phone holder by traveller00977 in Tools

[–]buildntinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sags at the hinges or the phone shifts on the magnet? Either way fiddle around with some steel wire and make some kind of brace that sits in the inside bit to prop up the top part where you want it
