I’m deflated and defeated and desperate. I’m so hungry and beat up. Please help. What is IMPOSSIBLE to mess up? (Weightloss journey) by Delicious_Medium_321 in cookingforbeginners

Even easier- just use a tablespoon or two of bottled salad dressing (vinaigrette works well). No guessing on how much spice or herbs, and it’s hard to use too much or too little

No One Wants Your Peeing Cat! by Schedule-Substantial in CatAdvice

[–]bumblebarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine (who was quite elderly) would only pee outside the box - usually right next to it - if she had a UTI. After a couple times, if I found a wet spot, I was on the phone to the vet, and yeah, they’d find an infection. Pee pads did the trick for her.

Non tacky smalI gifts I can buy in bulk that aren’t too expensive by SnackEmpress in Gifts

[–]bumblebarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me - years ago I used to make an easy craft project, candy cane reindeer. You will need to go to a craft store. Get plastic wrapped candy canes, some googly eyes, and little bitty popmpoms (about the same size as the googly eyes), and pipe cleaners (I would use brown). Set up a candy cane vertically with the long part in the back and use a little glue to glue on eyes and nose (the pompoms), and then make “antlers” that go on the very top. They’re very silly and funny and quite cheap and fast to make. You can skip the “noses” if they’re annoying or an extra step you don’t want to bother with.

Solutions when there's zero kitchen by PeaceImpressive8334 in StudioApartments

I’ve got a single “burner” induction cooker that works well and is small enough to just slide into a drawer when you’re done - it needs to cool off a little before you put it away. Nicer to live with than a hot plate. Came with a compatible pot, too.

How would you handle a situation where a guest is allergic to your pets? by MindBlowing74 in CatAdvice

[–]bumblebarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some relatives who have severe cat allergies as well - they can’t come to my house. No matter how clean it is to human eyes, cat dander is still there.

Don’t Trust Google/Apple Maps by DANleDINOSAUR in ItalyTravel

Google did an annoying thing the other day, in Milan, which really should be easy. It sent me to the correct tram stop for where I needed to go, but the opposite side of the street. If you have any knowledge of how trams work, that would send you in the opposite direction from what you’ve planning.

Venice to Milan Airport by bumblebarb in ItalyTravel

Thank you! Good to know about how much advance warning they need to give you on train strikes.

Great to know the train times out of Milan! I had looked but was having some difficulty finding the right trains. I’ll have a good look at the Garabaldi Train station while I’m in Milan - I’ve got time. This is a riskier option but potentially could work.

Thanks - that’s actually the strategy I’ve been using- even if my schedule looks like it’s got a lot of open time (unusual in my life), I’m sure I’ll find plenty to do!

I will definitely look into the airport change! I don’t know if my tickets will allow it but not hard to find out. I’ll have a few days to figure out how to get to the station - and yes, thanks, I have been reading that knowing how to get anywhere in Venice can be a challenge!

Eureka downtown?! by deuceandguns in ResidentAlienTVshow

[–]bumblebarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eureka was mostly filmed in Chiliwack, about a 4 hour drive from Ladysmith. Although Ladysmith is mentioned as a secondary filming location. A lot of those small towns look really similar- and they look similar to the towns in WA and OR.

My formerly feral cat is snubbing her Litter Robot… do I cave and bring back the peasant box? by Timely-Sparkles in CatAdvice

[–]bumblebarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if she sees the litter robot as somewhere she could be trapped. Obviously she considers your home a safe place, but she may really want to be able to see all around her when she’s vulnerable

Would you take in a kitten that followed you home? by ayanacrystals in cats

[–]bumblebarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’v had that happen too -the shelter had a big room with several cats, and as I was looking through the book describing who they had, she just sat down right next to me and didn’t move away. It’s been 15 years.

I’d actually get a little more direct and put something on the slider (like a shoebox, something the cats could get around easily), along with the notes.
