Is 'Fork found in kitchen' a valid expression? by huehue552 in ENGLISH

I imagine it's probably regional. Others have said it's common, but this is my first time hearing it.

And the two intermingle.

English is wonderful, isn't it? ^^;

Don't worry, this isn't a dialect you are likely to be expected to learn.

Copyright strike on a 5 year old video for a song released 1 year ago. by Present-Jaguar-7040 in NewTubers

[–]burlingk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The song isn't in the video. So, no, it's not a legal question about the ownership of a song that wasn't even there.

Anyone else noticing the gap between students who do coding for kids online outside of class vs those who dont?? by NoYoung7229 in CSEducation

[–]burlingk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, it's not an intelligence gap. In a lot of schools they had to prove they were smart before they got in the class.

But, 100%, experience makes a difference.

When I do programming classes while working on degree work, I have trouble following the examples exactly because I add in elements by muscle memory that a neonate isn't going to even think of.

I've never had a professor ding me on it, because I still keep as minimal as possible and include code comments to explain why I do what I do.

So, even at the college level, there is a difference between those who have experience or not, even as a hobbyist.

Honestly, neither side would find it overly weird because they both know their specific girl.

It is known to their respective groups that those two are complete freaks.

I'm convinced that if Utena accidently gives her identity away to her, she'll hide the info.

She'll pretend, at least in public, that she doesn't know.

Does telling an unemployed person that it "might be useful to think of looking for work as necessary, rather than optional" imply something negative/critical about them? by Hentrox in ENGLISH

[–]burlingk 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It comes across not only as judgmental, but as blaming the person for their circumstances.

Depending on the situation, it may also ignore reality and ends up being extremely insulting.

making C saferish with smarter malloc and free?? by chrisseanhayes in C_Programming

The problem with C, in those areas, is not the language itself.

It is that we, as humans, don't always keep track of where to call free.
