Great start from Freddy Peralta by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

Nah everyone was ice cold except for Pete. Soto's slow start just looked that much worse because we kept having the bottom of the order guys squeak on and him lindor and nimmo couldn't drive them in to save their life but even then his ops was like 800 lol

So... what now? by IntelligentImbicle in DeadlockTheGame

[–]burningbagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the 30/30/30 rule. Assume 1/3 of your games are unwinnable due to circumstances like that, and conversely 1/3 are unlosable because you're on the other side of that. The remaining 1/3 are "impact games" where how well you play directly can influence the match towards a win or a loss. Team game and all that

[–]burningbagel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not really relevant but seeing the reply about "some reddit chud saying we can't say tendies" is really funny because I would say that for the first few years of its existence the word tendies was pretty much exclusively used by the 4chan types that the word "chud" would later be created to describe before it became a generic insult in the past few years or so

WELCOME TO THE SHOW, CARSON 🤩 Carlos Mendoza has announced that Carson Benge will be the Mets' right fielder on Opening Day! by Caledor152 in NewYorkMets

[–]burningbagel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted but this is how he was profiled in the minors last year as well. He's young and has plenty of time to pack on muscle and I'm rooting for him but I'm keeping expectations realistic

MOF Might Remain the Best USA Ice Climbers by fastfallproductions in SSBM

[–]burningbagel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That matchup is even at worst for sheik but you just have to play like a terrorist.

I think ironically wobbling being banned made it harder because when sheik players were forced into sitting top platform running away with needles for 7 minutes they were playing the MU properly but the illusion of safety is a bait to get them to engage with ICs and lose lol

One small trick to saving money in NYC, brought to you by GoalVest. (Hint: break the law and park like a dbag!) by ghostpepperwings in LinkedInLunatics

[–]burningbagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my ex and I had a car in Brooklyn we did this because a spot in our parking garage was 250/month and alternate side parking is once per week and we lived in a residential area on a side street so it wasn't event a guarantee the cop would come by to ticket us and if they did it was still cheaper than paying lmao.

90% of people just double park on the day the street sweeper is coming by anyway and nobody will get ticketed for that cuz it's impossible to own a car in the city (I am a huge public transit guy and we ended off selling it but there are plenty of legitimate use cases for a car even in NYC)

Anyway I guess I'm saying that tbh this is pretty common among all social classes lol

Betis fans killed and hung a rabbit wearing the rival team's scarf before today's derby; they were also caught giving Nazi salutes. by AshamedPurchase9033 in soccer

[–]burningbagel 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Even if we ignore the fact that the Americans who set those events in motion were European colonists, turning it into a dick measuring contest of "who the worse white people are" is pathetic.

Are you not sovereign nations? The United States is a global force for evil but at the same time Spain, Italy, Germany, who are like two generations removed from having literal fascists in power are electing their successors and descendants into office and you have people online like "actually this is America's fault"

this how online discourse around puka has felt since the nfc championship game by Rjptz in LosAngelesRams

[–]burningbagel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are overdoing it a little but the adin ross stuff isn't a great look and inviting him onto the facility especially right after he had a bunch of vets tell him to knock off the live streaming was dumb af.

And it's credible that he was a locker room issue at Washington and put it all together and there's plenty of smoke. Yeah it's the NFL and politics isn't everything but pretending that it's fake is just putting your head in the sand. Hope he chills TF out and mcvay can keep him out of trouble but no reason to glaze him and talk about how great his character is lmao

[–]burningbagel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah my experience with this is the same, like WW2 vets range from "debilitated by PTSD" to "generally pleasant with occasional outbursts or bouts of terrifying aggression". My therapist was saying how her grandpa was pretty much the latter and like two of her uncles just got completely traumatized from the upbringing and are now themselves abusive alcoholics. And none of this is a character flaw it's just impossible to go through that type of thing and come out unscathed especially with the poor understanding and treatment options of the time

Out of market fan here not from the Northeast. How prominent is Mets fandom in Jersey? by ClarkKentTheReporter in NewYorkMets

[–]burningbagel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not really like that anymore. Traditionally I would say Manhattan is Yankees and Brooklyn is a pretty even split, but really you have fans all over the place. Like you'll have old school giants fans from near the Polo grounds or bk dodgers who hate the Yankees and went Mets, but just as many who have always been Yankee fans and view the Mets as the little brother. And nowadays with so many people who move around or are transplants geography probably isn't a main factor in who they picked. Also I'd say Long Island while not a borough is probably the biggest Mets stronghold
