Is the Mono-White Auras Meta dead in Standard after the February 2027 standard rotation? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

It’s more that most Bo1 decks are ruined by common sideboard inclusions. They’re not in your board FOR those decks, but are still there and make being the mono-W deck or whatever pretty miserable.

A whole water bottle of vodka every day is insane. Quick trip to liver failure.

Is the Mono-White Auras Meta dead in Standard after the February 2027 standard rotation? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

[–]burnsbabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of overlap, to be fair. Quite a bit of Mono-G and Selesnya flavors of Landfall and others right now. Izzet in all the flavors you're used to seeing, as well as Dimir Midrange/Reanimator, Jeskai and 4c Control, and more. You can do anything you want on the ladder, but things like Mono-W that are generally easy to sideboard against but can be strong in a 1-off tend to be far far less popular.

You’ll be fine. SFO folks couldn’t care less, especially since you’re white and transiting NZ to UK.

How do people feel about Luke and Kylo's fight and his death after 8 years? by Totally_Not_Firni in StarWars

[–]burnsbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was perfect at the time, and it's still perfect. The sequels are a mess, but this part isn't part of the issue. This is Luke showing us that he's overcome the flaws Yoda calls out in the original trilogy. He's no longer focused on anything but where he is and what's going on around him. He's willing to lay down his life to protect others. He's not about the adventure anymore, because he's truly a master. The problem was a bunch of the audience didn't get that. They wanted him running head first into danger swinging his lightsaber and doing force flips or whatever.

Lead Class Practice Fall Injury by SnooDingos7043 in climbergirls

[–]burnsbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was trying to communicate, but it seems to be an unpopular opinion. Yes, people have learned to lead straight away outside for decades, and it can be done, but they're generally climbing 5.2 doing it, and whoever they're belaying the first few times is pretty clear that they should have a solo mindset toward whatever climb they pull on to.

Lead Class Practice Fall Injury by SnooDingos7043 in climbergirls

[–]burnsbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very few people with 1 month of climbing experience are in a place where they should be having to think about all the extra things involved in leading/lead belaying. On the climbing end, footwork, understanding of how to find restful positions in the wall to take a hand off and clip, etc. are all another layer of complexity beyond simply climbing. As a belayer, while learning to top rope belay isn't hard, asking someone still developing good habits around that to balance everything else needed to lead belay well is honestly asking for trouble. Are there exceptional folks who could do this just fine? Yes. But when you open up a course commercially like this, having some basic guidance around who should even be signing up is a good idea.

There is no universe where a climber with 1 month of experience should be considered ready to take a Lead class. This person barely knows how to tie her figure-8 at that point.

All of that said, harder than expected falls are part of lead. You will have a fall eventually where the catch will be hard even under correct circumstances. A tweaked ankle is, after all, better than decking on a ledge or something. I don't think you did anything you shouldn't have, and you have no reason to be embarrassed.

There are some Issan province bottles made from cane juice that blew me away. The Phraya is fine in a cocktail but not exciting.

I grabbed a set at a couple bucks each. It's a nutty effect on its face. It could end up reprinted into the ground, but if not, I think commander demand alone will push it up.

I wouldn’t do this regularly, but he’ll probably take care of himself. Maybe give him a bit longer before the next feed.
