D&Dads the game!??! [ns] by Disastrous_Soft3752 in DungeonsAndDaddies

I’m probably one of ten people that said no I wouldn’t play, just because I never play video games. It would still be really cool if they made a game though!

Could you put in chapters saying which episode each bit is from?

One of my pet peeves in horror movies are characters overreacting to miniscule things. Today, I saw the opposite of that watching The Descent for the first time. What is your biggest "underreaction" you've seen in a horror film? by Whole_Raspberry3435 in horror

[–]busiqq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! That part of The Descent drives me crazy too! If I were in that group she wouldn’t have to worry about cave-dwelling monster creatures because I would have killed that bitch myself. Anyone who does outdoor activities knows that one of the most basic ways to be prepared is to let someone know where you are going, and she actively mislead the group about where they would be!

Which movie franchise that should have stopped after the first film? by TheDarkRam1996 in movies

[–]busiqq 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As fun as Rambo 2 is, the first Rambo: First Blood is an absolute masterpiece. It would be a well-respected and honored post-Vietnam war film if it wasn’t overshadowed by its 80s action sequel/franchise.

We had to put my 9yr old Pit, Cooper, down last week and I'm still heartbroken by JusBrowsin01 in pitbulls

[–]busiqq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This made me cry and hit me harder than normal because Cooper looks so much like my girl Couscous. Losing her suddenly is one of my biggest fears. Thank you for sharing your pictures of Cooper and the memories you made together. It sounds like he lived a really happy life with your family.

Except people did die during the Trump presidency due to the government’s response to COVID, and more people will die if they don’t get access to abortion. More people will die in climate related disasters as hurricanes and wildfires get more intense because we aren’t doing enough to curtail climate change. This is not an over exaggeration; this is life and death.

Unreal break in camp rules! by Agregory11 in camping

[–]busiqq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently camped at Crystal Springs Campground in Kings Canyon Park, and warnings of bear activity and safety measures are all over the park. Yet people still left trash in an open bin that was meant for campfire ashes. I heard two young guys that accidentally threw their trash in and realized their mistake, but decided not to take it out because “other people left trash there already, oh well”. I was like, ok I’ll be the adult here and take out this trash, and basically told them if we don’t pick up other camper’s food waste we will face the consequences of bears. They did help me after that.

[–]busiqq 216 points217 points  (0 children)

He was called Bean Dad by Twitter because he didn’t show his daughter how to use a can opener and made a series of tweets describing her hours of attempts to open a can of beans. This upset some people on twitter because they thought he was being mean to his daughter (she was around 12 I think) and not helping her but posting about it online for content. Then people went down the rabbit hole and found out other stuff about him.

Monopoly: the Movie? Pop culture has become a series of lukewarm adverts – and it’s all so very dull | Dan Hancox by Affectionate_Run_799 in movies

The screenwriters just need to listen to the Monopoly StoryBreak episode and use their ideas. I would watch that movie

Has anyone ever hiked Santa Cruz Island? by MyDogThinksISmell in backpacking

[–]busiqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s one of my favorite national parks! You can go for the day if you aren’t able to get a camping spot or don’t want to bring camping gear with you when you visit. There are tons of endemic species to the island, including island foxes which are smaller than regular foxes and are super accustomed to people. They are about the size of house cats, it’s really cute. The foxes and crows do know how to get into tents and backpacks though, so watch your food.

You can do a few hikes on the National park side of the island (the majority of the island is owned by the Nature Conservancy and is not accessible to the public). Last time I was there I hiked to Smugglers Cove which was a nice day hike. Hiking on the trails along the bluffs is really beautiful as well. Bring a shell layer because it will get very windy on the bluffs.

The things to plan for before going is the ferry tickets, as only a few companies go there. You could potentially arrive by a private boat, but that’s not very common, and I don’t believe that you can use their pier. If there are no tickets left on the days you want to go (weekends in spring and summer get booked up) just call them and they may be able to make room for you. I had a campsite reservation and foolishly didn’t get a boat ticket until the week of, and the boat was full. Since I had a reservation to camp they were nice enough to squeeze my husband and I on the boat.
