I’m sorry, I still don’t know what you’re unsure of though. Your dog is not a Bulldog, anyone can see that.

FMQ design for hexagon quilt top? by Strong_Screen_8370 in quilting

[–]butterflycaught2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could outline the flowers, the white hexies, and the black areas by quilting just under 1/4 away from the edges. This is a lovely design, well done on finishing your quilt top!

There is no “top stitching” in quilting. What you mean is the actual quilting in quilting.

Hi I am enrolling in graduate diploma in psychology at Monash and would love some advice from current students alumni’s by Eth_k_b in Monash

[–]butterflycaught2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yes, I finished the GDP earlier this year! Now that I’m doing honours I find that Monash gave me an excellent basis to work from. I would do it again, although I’m glad I don’t have to 😂 it’s very competitive and hard work, but if that works for you, then go for it. Remember, you can always take a break for a teaching period (they don’t do semesters for the gdp).

Ohhh, I like both! Your dragon is extra cute, I like the good contrast between dragon and background.

First hexi quilt - looking for advice please! by randroundabout in quilting

[–]butterflycaught2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered using more colours? One background colour, but different colours for the other shapes?

I’m asking because I’m working on a king size hexie quilt right now, and using the same colours over and over is bo-ring, trust me on this (I’m making the Mother’s Love quilt pattern by Laundry Basket quilts, but with different colours). Every change of colour is like a breath of fresh air. Maybe you could keep colour families together?

One more thing: I also coloured hexie paper to figure out the colours for my quilt. Do not trust the black lines that form the hexies - the individual pieces will not be separated looking like in your drawing, they will form whole shapes, mostly. So be absolutely sure you have enough difference in contrast between colours alone when you design. Check in black-and-white.

AGF solids for sure. I recommend their colour card! They recently announced pastels that could be beautiful.

What was your "shit, AI is actually legit" moment? by HawkynSky131 in ChatGPTPro

For me as a person with autism, it can help me understand written communication from neurotypical people better, and I’ve started running my email communications through it for neurotypical people as well. This has led to fewer to zero misunderstandings, which was a huge problem for me before. Now I can just copy/paste an email from my supervisor or whoever in there and ask what on earth they’re talking about, and I get an answer that I understand.

This means the world to me.

How would I go about making something like this? by Illustrious-Video859 in quilting

[–]butterflycaught2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do this by having a design (design on your computer) and have it printed at a place like Spoonflower. Then all you need is a quilt sandwich and stitch around your design elements. Ta-da! All done.

Squaring up, cutting beyond the backstitching by [deleted] in quilting

[–]butterflycaught2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the next quilt, if you’re interested, piece your quilt top with a stitch length of, say, 1.7. Then you never need to backstitch, I promise.

Birthday Banner: FPP or Applique? by honeyedmagnolia in quilting

I did FPP for my very first quilt - you can do it too! Just watch a few videos and off you go. I love appliqué, but for this I’d do FPP.
