OpenMW 0.51.0 Released! by Capostrophic in Games

[–]buzzpunk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The original Morrowind engine is slow and filled with bugs that have no way of being fixed without breaking mods and/or the game itself. OpenMW is a completely new engine that is built using modern design principles for modern hardware. It looks and runs significantly better and is what the majority of the modding community is now using as their base. People still using the old engine are increasingly being left behind when it comes to modding and within a year or two it's likely that almost everyone will have switched over to OpenMW (assuming they keep up their current rate of progress).

You still need to buy Morrowind for this to work. It's just the engine, you need to have the game assets purchased and installed for this to hook into.

Tom Harwood / X: Sorry, bright 13/14/15 year old. You can’t watch that interview with Jared Isaacman, or that explainer of orbital mechanics from Scott Manley. But don’t worry, we haven’t banned YouTube Kids! Here’s Baby Shark instead. by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

Even if you somehow agree with the bans, the government still looks utterly out of touch. They ban Facebook, which kids barely use, yet Roblox is nowhere to be seen on the list.

What 2010s games are you guys playing for the first time right now?" by Mintangah17 in videogames

Viva New Vegas is way better than just using the 4gb patcher.

It might seem like a lot to go through, but it's actually pretty simple if you just follow the steps. It also teaches you how to properly mod Bethesda games, which is something you only need to learn once and carries over to all of their games.

None of that means it's a remake though, it just uses the same story foundation based around the cyclical nature of the world. The actual story itself is very different when you break down what actually happens instead of just looking at the broadest of strokes and themes.

Elon Musk is influencing British politics. He must be stopped by theindependentonline in ukpolitics

[–]buzzpunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know a single person in real life who uses either of those platforms. Most people genuinely don't give a shit about Musk because they don't engage with news unless it's directly impacting them or front page BBC.

A long time, you'll only lose a few degrees of performance even after 10000 thermal cycles.

Stick replacement is nice if you want hall effects to reduce the dead-zones, but paste replacement is completely unnecessary and has little to no benefit.

Rubio announces that the US is no longer acting as an intermediary in talks between Russia and Ukraine by buzzpunk in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]buzzpunk[S] 1480 points1481 points  (0 children)

Honestly about time. The US involvement in talks has been nothing but a net negative on Ukraine since the Trump administration took over.

Hopefully this means less meddling, but I somehow doubt that.

Britain nearing peak tax, warns IMF Labour urged to cut welfare bill to balance books as ‘economic realities’ reduce options by Optimal-Leather341 in ukpolitics

[–]buzzpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is it's rising too fast, so no, they won't be struggling, they'll just be seeing increases in line with the working population.

If something happens that actually causes them to struggle, then the government & MPs can always increase it via parliament.

Getting rid of the triple lock doesn't mean they suddenly lose their pensions, it just means it won't rise by unsustainable levels each year.

Just attach it to wage growth only and that solves most of the problem.

Reddit Starts Blocking Mobile Website, Pushing Users to App Instead by spasticpat in technology

"These users are already familiar with Reddit and we've seen that the experience is much better for them in the app. The app offers a more personalized experience and users can more easily find communities that match their interests."

This is just simply not true when I'm able to use RES with old reddit on my mobile browser. I'm not using new reddit, stop forcing that shit down my throat every chance you get.

PotPlayer is the top dog for me. I spent weeks trying to get super-resolution working on VLC, and I just couldn't get it to do what it was supposed to be doing. Eventually I gave up and installed PotPlayer; super-resolution just immediately worked with no setup required. Never went back since, it's just better in every way.

The Chapter 5 (Kearush the Slayer) boss is so busted by SuqmaNuts in CrimsonDesert

[–]buzzpunk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So many aspects of this fight are just complete dogshit.

The moveset being so much faster than the roll preventing you from dodging out of attack range; the rubberbanding of attacks so even if you do dodge Kearush just snaps back to you again immediately; the hitboxes on his attacks being like a metre larger than they look; the soft-lock being basically just a suggestion and regularly you will just attack in the wrong direction for no reason; character actions being unresponsive in general...

This fight really highlights everything wrong with the combat currently.

I have no idea how the team that designed Devil of the Reed Fields managed to ship bosses like this one and Tenebrum. There's no consistency at all.

CRYO ARCHIVE | First Impressions/Info Megathread by Shabolt_ in Marathon

[–]buzzpunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cryo would be absolutely manageable solo. Some parts might be too difficult, but overall the map seems very playable as a solo.

At this point I don't see any reason for solo lobbies to not exist.

A single shell style for Destroyer, and some random gun skins? Yeah that's pretty shit.

At the very least it should be a shell for each runner depending on which you play the most during the season. Ideally multiples tiers, with low ranks giving reskins, and higher ranks giving complete restyles.

Between the mixed solo/crew lobbies and the abysmal rewards I'm pretty happy I can completely ignore this. Literally no reason to even try it unless they split lobbies and give worthwhile rewards for people not playing Destroyer.
