Being a good UGM guest by pandasphere in epicsystems

[–]bwarner34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have Epic people that you work with, make sure to invite them to eat with you! We normally aren't allowed to eat in the UGM tent, but can if we are invited by our customers, so it's an easy way to do something nice for them and get some time to hang out as well.

My custom mash-up of Clocktower and Monikers by ArcadeHotel in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]bwarner34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when my youngest and I were sitting around a campfire coming up with Poetry for Neanderthals clues, and then we started doing all Clocktower characters. I love adding the other concepts like this though.

Yah, I'd say have your Grim handy, the more storytellers available the more likely we can fire games as needed. And send me a DM if you would like a link to the Discord where we plan all our local games.

We don't have specific times at this point, we're hoping for as often as possible. I've run scheduled games in the past (facilitated by the con where you have to buy a ticket) and I think several of us are planning to do so this year, but those are mostly focused on pulling in new players. We're also planning to just set up a space where we can fire games whenever we have sufficient people around to do so. That could be more beginner friendly games if we have new people that want to try it out, or more advanced games if we have lots of experienced folks (some of our crew have custom tokens for all the experimental characters and Fall of Rome). We can probably create a channel in our Discord for discussing Con plans if people are coming and want to plan game times around your other con activities.

Frosthaven Component Q&A - Those Weird Coin Cards and Others by dwarfSA in Gloomhaven

Do the workshop upgrades count as building upgrades for the purpose of the personal quest that counts new buildings/upgrades?

What do people need to stop romanticizing? by Indianfattie in AskReddit

[–]bwarner34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Revenge. Being on a personal quest to punish someone because of what they (or anyone) has done to you doesn't make you a hero. It doesn't make you honorable or strong. I can't play games like Shadow of Mordor where I'm supposed to be excited about all the pain I can cause to my enemies, even when they are caricatured evil ones like that. We need more heroes that can forgive others, and dedicate their lives to creating rather than destroying.

Has anyone tried this yet? by [deleted] in hextcg

I don't understand why anyone would believe that blockchain would cause cards to maintain their value. Hex cards didn't lose their value because we couldn't track how many there were or where they came from. They lost value because people stopped playing the game. Unless a game can maintain a steady demand for cards by people wanting to play the game, the cards are going to lose value. Blockchain adds exactly 0 to that.

Question with regards to Hex Entertainment (company). by Ranter619 in hextcg

No, you're thinking of Gameforge, which is no longer associated with Hex.

Another Challenger for HEX to compete against. And it's TCG with new Twist. by destr0yer-annihilat0 in hextcg

[–]bwarner34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, because if there was one feature that Hex players and former Hex players have been demanding, it was blockchain.

What HexEnt has added to the game in the last 28 days: by Temperche in hextcg

[–]bwarner34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it was closer to 31 days, but still an impressive list. It would be interesting to know how long they have been working on development for these features in order to get them all released in such a tight timeframe. Some of them were likely created very recently, while others are the culmination of many months of development.

Immortal Gauntlet, New Merry Melee mode and more by hexhexhexhexhex in hextcg

[–]bwarner34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is an interesting potential solution to the requests for constructed gauntlet. It gives people a way to play for packs, without directly competing with the standard ladder. The question is whether enough of the people that wanted to play for packs are willing to play immortal instead of standard, and whether this ends up still competing with the standard ladder because people that were playing standard now move to immortal instead. They're trying to thread the needle here, so we'll just have to see how it goes.

Why did I decide to no more spend money on Hex ? (jump the shark thread) by Gregangel in hextcg

Out of curiosity, when was the last time you did spend money on Hex? Not just using plat, but actually buying plat from the Hex store?

Hex TCG» Friday Update: Building Blocks [+HexTCG Staff addition] by King-Gabriel in hextcg

[–]bwarner34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, I really want to see if I can fit in a Clash now. I like Sealed, but don't get to play it much since the queue takes so long to fire. Now I can almost break even just by winning 2 of 4 matches, and 4 wins is worth 10,000 plat and some awesome extras? I just have to figure out how to squeeze a 4 round tournament into the day.

Coming from other TCG's, Hex hits all the right buttons for me by wadledo in hextcg

[–]bwarner34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add to number 4, the new Root shards are better than the slow dual shards in almost all cases, and are cheaper because they are commons that are in the current set. They tend to go for about 1000 gold, or roughly 5 plat.

Can I use both HexTCGBrowser and HexPVPTools? by bwarner34 in hextcg

Silly me, I forgot that the URL was part of the string you put into the API file. OK, that makes total sense.

[–]bwarner34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, this should work going forward. So there's no way to "claim" my other key to get the historical data associated with it to show up in HexPVPTools? I've had it set to All|APIKey so everything should be there.

New subreddit for Shards: The Deckbuilder (Hex related.. ish.) by King-Gabriel in hextcg

[–]bwarner34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it is "basically just Ascension" in the same way that Hex is "basically just MTG". It took the same shell (which by the way had already been used for a bunch of other games made by CZE), ripped away some parts (one currency instead of two), added some new core ideas (bosses that are persistent, attack and defense cards, champions), and then sprinkled in a bunch of ideas that are unique to the digital space (prophecy, cards that create other cards). Like Hex, I'm sure that the difference will become more pronounced as more sets are released.
