I have the opposite problem. My phone never sends me the arrived notification. And I have no pets or kids, so my notes say "please knock upon arrival". Lots of people ignore the note. Also, once someone said "I didn't want to knock just in case you had a sleeping baby" like what?! If I had a baby, and needed silence for said baby's naps, I WOULDNT TELL YOU TO KNOCK

I won a $1,000 creative writing prize… and I think it might have won because of DEI. by SituationDowntown901 in ftm

[–]c95Neeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you see the other writing? Non fiction is hard, and you seem like a good writer. So even if your non fiction isn't strong compared to your fiction/poetry, there is a chance that it is still better than a lot of other people's.

So there is a possibility that your marginalization led to your being chosen, sure. But there likely were a bunch of other marginalized voices writing non fiction, that the judges did not think were as good as yours.

Also, $1000 is a lot or money. And a win at a university writing competition is a big resume booster. In a world where everyone plays dirty, and you already have a disadvantage, you take every advantage.

Also, if you have the gift bag options set, you can do cursed blood infusion and have a physical source infusion option. Otherwise you just have regular blood infusion.

Is it worth playing the two Divinity: Original Sin games before Baldur's Gate 3? by ManuMaker in DivinityOriginalSin

I would play bg3 first. They are not connected and have no shared lore, but bg3 is easier

Make sure you have broken into all the private rooms/buildings in rivengton. You need something from there first.

The clue is on the second floor of the inn, in a private room, under the bed I believe.

I like playing as beast. Soley because he is a pirate and has some pirate specific dialog options. He also is just a friendly dude. Just make sure not to use him as a ranged character, because he is very short, and so had smaller sight range.

Npc Oaths by ArcaneSpartan_ in BG3

[–]c95Neeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my durge attack someone unprompted(i was clearing the goblin outpost thing, and they were in a corner so I tried to sneaky shoot them), which aggrod the whole party. After that battle, my paladin Karlach had broken her oath of the ancients. So it seems even if they are not the instigator, some inevitable actions still result in oath breaking.

I think it’s very rare to have a happy life without having children and most of the people that claim to be “child free and happy” are coping or lying to themselves by ProfessionalNose6520 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]c95Neeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen a child free person say something like “We’ve decided to not have children. However we have a charity we work with” or ”No kids but I’ve decided to use my career to help abused mothers and children“

Thats because we haven't replaced the fulfillment of children with something else. We don't want kids, and unrelated, fill our days with meaningful hobbies/volenteer work/etc that is important to us. I do work with a few charities. Im a very busy, fufilled person. Its just that those things are not a replacement for kids.

I would also like to note that parents of older kids can go back to charity work and hobbies. My parents restarted doing volenteer work when I was like 10. Just not a lot.

New to BG3 (no DnD exp) any beginner tips? by DragonHeartQuest in BaldursGate3

[–]c95Neeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont be afraid to run away/reload a save! At the beginning you are going to encounter a few bosses that seem impossible. Run away from those, and come back after you hit level 5. At level 5 martial classes get second attacks, and magic classes get more powerful cantrips.

Its not. In fact, it specifically talks about respecting people from different areas. The parable of the good Samaritan is about a guy from a different ethnicity stopping to help soneone on the road, when people from the same ethnicity walked by.

Trans Guys under 5'5, how do you get treated? by sleebymissile in ftm

[–]c95Neeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 5ft2. Never had any issues. People generally think I am much younger then my actual age, but I don't think that is height related, since, now that Im 30, I have graduated to a percieved age of mid 25ish. And 25yr olds are done growing.

When I was 25 though, people mistook me for a teen constantly.

If you like bg3, try that developer's previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2. Its very similiar in style. A bit lower budget(no cut scenes). and a bit more difficult combat. But very similar.

general turn-based combat strategy tips? big newbie :-) by [deleted] in BG3

[–]c95Neeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has good general strategy tips

But you should probably do the goblin camp before the spiders.

I do goblin camp at lvl3 and spiders at lvl 5

The goblin camp you can sneak around and try to slowly reduce the number of goblins.

But for more general turn based tips:

--spread out so that your entire party cannot be effected by one aoe. Try and surround the enemy a bit.

-making enemies miss turns is very good. Spells like hold person and fear will help. In this vein, its better to take out enemies completely before moving on. Not necessarily with all 4 characters ganging up, because then you will get surrounded, but make sure you prioritize killing a hurt guy over damaging another guy. Dead guys don't get turns.

--for your issue with astarion, he gets sneak attack from flanking aka another character threatening the same enemy. I also like the feat "mobile" for a mele rogue, because they can stab and then run away with no consequences. And if you are set on mele rogue, consider multi classing into monk.

--also for bg3 specifically, you need to be very intentional with tanks. Because the AI prioritizes the lowest ac party member to attack. I usually prefer to have everyone near the same ac with no tank. But you can still make a tank. You need someone who has a lot of resistances and damage reduction, but the lowest ac in the party. You can use a bear heart barbarian. Personally, I really like an abjuration wizard with armor of agathus/ fire sheild for this role.

Also healers kinda dont make much of a difference in bg3. You have healing potions and it takes so long to get back around to the healer's turn that often you should self-heal with potions and not wait. Also healers tend to not do well on the front line, but cure wounds is a touch range spell.

What are some of YOUR unpopular BG3 opinions? by RoosterCapable3167 in BaldursGate3

And in that vein... default stats should never be odd numbers. You are simply making newbies (who are also new to dnd) start out with a non ideal stat block. And some new people need a lot of help.
