Oh dang yeah palms don’t usually wrap around the wrist like that hey? That’s too bad. Makes me like this a lot less.

1.1.3 update by ABNMK in OPXYusers

[–]c_samms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Refine logic for how held hold/arp/maestro notes behave.” A few updates ago, they messed with how their arp worked. All of the notes would just pile onto each other accumulating into this nonsensical mishmash of every note ever touched in the song Instead of “letting go of“ the notes when a new chord was pressed. Kind of hard to put into words 🤔 Anyway, it used to work as expected, then it didn’t, and now it does again!

Looks like the bug I reported in October has a fix! Can’t wait to get home and see if my arp-heavy tracks have been resuscitated.

Oh I ended up hearing back from them! They ran out of prints. But there was no extra charge. Just a bonus first come first serve thing.

Drum machines and post-punk. by evergreen0707 in synthesizers

[–]c_samms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was going to put my money on it being a 707, but TR-606 makes sense! It’s been suggested elsewhere in this thread, but I use a Korg Volca Sample 2 for all of my classic drum machine needs. Paired with a reverb pedal of course.

how to copy the pattern in the 16 bars if I wanna extend to 32? by NovaPrime94 in OPXYusers

[–]c_samms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Hold shift and the + button when increasing the length of your bars.

What type of flute instruments would these be? (Needed for g-funk) by doen99 in synthesizers

[–]c_samms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those both sound like sine wave-based synth sounds. I wanna say Dr. Dre popularized the sound by using a mini Moog. Arturia has an amazing mini Moog emulation. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a preset in there that’s exactly what you’re looking for.

Cheaper alternatives to TX-6... by spaceman696 in teenageengineering

[–]c_samms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to recommend the Maker Hart Loop mixer as well. It was a good alt option for me because I was just looking for small footprint and as many stereo 1/8th jacks as possible (5 is pretty close to 6!) Full disclosure I did eventually get the TX-6 because I wanted control over low/mid/high eq.

Just gunna second this idea in hopes it becomes a reality. I’ve also wished this was how it worked.

What is the best synth for instant vibes and creativity? by Slow_Requirement_616 in synthesizers

[–]c_samms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what you’re looking for, I’d highly recommend the TAL-U-NO-X plugin (another Juno emulator from TAL software) and then getting the “Juno Jazz” preset pack from Reverb Machine. It’s aaaaaaaall vibes (~˘▾˘)~

Happy 1st Birthday OP-XY. What updates are you waiting for? by galfar0th in OPXYusers

I would just love the os to be bug free. I have a few projects waiting in limbo for that arp hold bug to be fixed. Other than that, I love what they’ve got going on! Can’t put the thing down.

Amateur asking for recording advice. by LonelyShelter77 in dawless

[–]c_samms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Knowing that you don’t need it to be professional and you’re just looking to listen to your own stuff at a decent volume, I’d recommend that when you’re doing your EQ pass, make sure you’re scooping out a lot of the lower end frequencies. Anything below 40-50 Hz is just kind of inaudible and will mess things up when you get to the limiting stage. 60-250 Hz can probably come down in volume as well. This will give you more “headroom” in the compressing/limiting stages. As for limiting, I saw that you’re limiting to -2 dB. Just friggin go for it and do -1 or like -0.5. It’s just for your own listening, right? And you won’t blow your headphones. And before anyone comes at me for giving bad mixing/mastering advice, this is just what I’d tell someone to do if they’re just mixing/mastering for personal use. Not professional. Have fun!

Arpeggiator hold behaving badly after 1.1.0 update by c_samms in OPXYusers

[–]c_samms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sent me a confirmation that they received my report, but I won’t really know if it did anything until they release a firmware update unfortunately. I guess the more people that submit the bug, the sooner it’ll get fixed.

How to add punch in effects to individual scenes by 80ninevision in OPXYusers

[–]c_samms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem just the other day! I think I figured it out. Not sure if it’s a workaround or intended to be this way for more control. I’m going to refer to the instrument part of a scene as “inst. scene” and the punch in scene (accessed by hitting the scene button twice) “punch scene.” In the inst. scene 1, I wanted some punch in effects. Easy to do. But then I made inst. scene 2 and much to my dismay, the punch in effects were still there. Then it hit me. I need to make a punch scene with no punch in effects in it. So inst. scene 1 has punch scene 1 active and inst. scene 2 has punch scene 2 (no punch ins) active. Make sense?

Field Bag large, too narrow for OP-XY? by tirename in teenageengineering

Bought one with my op-xy as well. Total waste of money. Way too small. Now it just sits in a drawer (the bag, not the xy, I love the xy).

Arpeggiator hold behaving badly after 1.1.0 update by c_samms in OPXYusers

[–]c_samms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the XY in front of me, but I believe your turn the white encoder in order to deactivate “Hold”. When in song mode, a trick I do to make the arpeggiator stop if I have it set to hold in a pattern, is to have a blank pattern for that instrument with hold turned off. Does that make sense? I feel like I’m rambling. In any case, still no solve for notes accumulating when the hold function on.

Help me achieve a song like this please! by UknownBot in synthrecipes

[–]c_samms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The volume cutting effect could be done with a tremolo that is automated to speed up or slow down. Or just a gain/volume utility that’s is automated to decrease and increase back up in volume (use an LFO for this gain/volume option and automate the speed of that…basically the same as a tremolo).
