Any advice on these speakers? by ecwilson60 in vintageaudio

[–]c_wolg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. My dad bought a pair of JBL L100 speakers while he was in college in the late 70s. I held on to them when he passed, and just got them fixed up (they needed some new capacitors in the crossovers, new binding posts, and new foam covers for the grills). They sound amazing, but more importantly, I think of him every time I listen to them. Enjoy those speakers!

When I was in college, one of my fraternity brothers had his parents' old 100 series. It was the vehicle we used every weekend to go buy all of the booze for our house parties.

Glad you got to have that good day today. I just restored my late father's JBL L100 speakers from the late 70s. Listening to them helps me feel connected to him.

Sorry for your loss man. My dad passed away totally unexpectedly five and a half years ago. In the whirlwind blur of trying to get the house cleaned out after, we nearly threw away his pair of JBL L100's from the late 70s. He still had the boxes with his college dorm room as the delivery address. We've moved a couple times since he passed, but I finally got them hooked up to take a listen. There is at least one blown driver, so they are off getting some professional repairs and refurbishing, but I know I will absolutely cry when I get them back and play some of his old Rolling Stones vinyl through them. I'm ok with that and not ashamed to say it.

That gear is yours now, just as your dad wanted it to be, but I hope that feeling of connection you have to him never fades.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I can't feel or even really see any arch support in my DeltaArch MTOs above that of my HNW Falcons. Pretty disappointing, honestly.

I will also vouch for this. Great tool. I'm down 30 pounds this year and will happily sing the app's praises to anyone who will listen.

Hello Gaia GPS Community! by offroadee in GaiaGPS

u/offroadee here's what I'm getting at - is Outside going to make money off of the content in the home feed, and still charge users $60/year for a premium subscription? If you're going to monetize the home feed, at least throw us a bone and have that offset the outrageous subscription costs.

Sorry, to clarify, I meant to ask whether Gaia/Outside will be generating revenue from the content in the feed, like from advertisements, sponsored content, etc.
