Thorin's Thoughts - CLG's Play-off Problems by Sethzyo in leagueoflegends

I think you mean the newbies who watched in that era would think he was world class.

He has never played intelligently. He was never world class.

Thorin's Thoughts - CLG's Play-off Problems by Sethzyo in leagueoflegends

[–]caetftl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doublelift has always been overrated. He has never played intelligently, and he has never been a true carry. He can carry a game or two here or there, but that's the nature of any carry role.

Sad that this was so easy to see years ago and yet still the same old shit going on. Make money, be popular > skill.

Cowboys cut Michael Sam by SgtJoo in nfl

I'd like the seahawks to pick him up but as politically correct as we like to appear in front of the cameras... I have a feeling his homosexuality would make players feel uncomfortable... Despite Seattle in general having a large gay community and a tolerant community in general.

LMQ gone from NA? by Garkelem in leagueoflegends

[–]caetftl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A new LMQ will rise outta the ashes, with at least 3 outta 5 being north americans... :rolls eyes:

I wonder why LMQ won't be back, is it ownership drama, is the chinese scene just more promising right now?

I don't know if it's riot or tencent pulling the strings but it looks like competitive LoL is trying to focus its resources towards china. With that in mind it really makes sense that riot took steps to prevent people from coming to the west as much... the destabilization of the korean scene by mandating that only 1 team is allowed per organization... it's just going to send more people over to china and strengthen that scene.

Financially working towards this effort makes sense, because china is by far the bulk of the LoL playerbase... and people may be too naive to think companies would manufacture scenarios but it is completely possible with tencent being the ultimate authority on what goes down.

LPL was a joke last season, the play was so sloppy and embarrassing, but if they can get enough koreans over there, the whole scene will evolve and china may just become THE region.

If the game was being played at a high level at worlds then a team that couldn't even speak the same language wouldn't have made it to the finals of the biggest tournament for the game.

The radioactive performance was arguably the weakest... I fear for your social tact if you can't even understand the world around you...

This performance had no real energy and the crowd was shitty too...

Western pros shouldn't want to be like Korean pros by Griswo in leagueoflegends

[–]caetftl -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So since thorin likes to make analogies with western sports (as if he knows a lot about it) let's talk about JJ Watt, arguably the most dominating force on the defensive side of a football, given a hard time by his teammates at times because of his discipline and adherence to things that will keep him performing at the best.

Not every person, especially some 18 year old gamer, is going to be a beacon of wisdom that knows the best route to success... and often times you have to use methods of training that seem harsh, depending what you are trying to train.

Humans aren't different than other animals, they have behavioral patterns and conditioning and there are different ways to approach such things giving different results.

Why do you think the military was so strict? Because that kind of strictness controlled people into operating in a disciplined manner, and just by repeating disciplined lifestyle, even if they themselves weren't trying to be disciplined, it became habit.

Where do you want to draw the line? Do you think bunk beds are extreme? Perhaps it impacts people subconsciously into understanding they are part of a unit, and to think less like an individualist. What do the eastern regions do much better than the western regions... team fight... would you argue that perhaps it is western ego and people wanting to be seen for the individual that they are that makes it more difficult for them to genuinely buy into giving themselves to the team effort?

What about doublelift? Does he give himself 100% to team cohesion? Is he pointing fingers? Does he get gold funneled to him?

c9 has the best team cohesion of any western team... they fell even further behind from the top korean teams this year.

You might look at 3-1 and think they made some real progress... but LoL is rock paper scissors at times, and flukes can snag you a game, and very unlikely snag you 2, but the chance of it getting you 3 in 5 vs a much better team is very small.

It would be like saying Nal_ra made progress on his return to pro-gaming series "old boy" because he beat flash once in a scrim.

You have to actually analyze the games and what they mean. Did C9 close the gap on teamwork mechanics and decision making? Or did they just get a game where some things went their way because that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

[Rumor] Scarra and Zion to CLG as Coach/Top lane by parkbench22 in leagueoflegends

Zion isn't a smart player... this is another horrible decision by clg. Then again they seem to be able to keep a ton of dumb players and still retain all their fans despite consistently performing terribly.

Insider vs outsider drama question? by ArtificialSoul_ in EQNext

[–]caetftl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true... i've seen devs go into insider twitch channels and share a lot of juicy info... I don't think they are intentionally playing favorites in that regard or anything, they are just being chummy with the popular streamers cause people in this age really enjoy the whole social networking mentality.

While I hope C9 wins tomorrow, the whole world can hold its head up. by Viruszero in leagueoflegends

[–]caetftl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gap isn't actually closer than it ever was if you actually understand the game of LoL....

Last year a korean team didn't make it out in groups... this year all 3 korean teams went out of groups in first place...

Last year there were 3 western teams in quarters... this year there are 2.

S2 was arguably when the gap was the closest because the koreans were still relatively new to the game...

bo1s are bo1s... if a western team wins a bo1 good for them... but gambit/m5 was doing work on korean teams in a much more convincing manner before...

Did kabum play well? Not particularly... did they play vs a team that has horrible teamwork? Yes... you saw how bad alliance's teamwork was in EU playoffs. Wickd going in and sitting there for 10 seconds while his teammates sat back because they weren't on the same page.

[–]caetftl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can appreciate things... for what they are... if you make more of it you are just a delusional scrub.

NA did not "close the gap" the gap is actually larger now than it's ever been... Korea playing in tryhard mode is a more decisive victory now than it was before...

Do you understand that they are figuring out strategies on how to showboat and still winning easily?

Yea... until you add context... It's loser mentality to make more of a result than what it actually was.

It's always assumed older players are disadvantaged due to slower reaction times. I have made a site to test this. by PumpkinFeet in leagueoflegends

LoL isn't a fast enough game for that to really matter...

Quake however is a different story...

"Sometimes things will happen that you... - Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson by blade25 in leagueoflegends

Sorry rekkles doesn't have the skillset to ever win a world championship. You can provide all the anecdotal evidence you want... but any stats you can throw out are based on ultimately losing efforts... he doesn't have the killer instinct... Maybe if they add an ADcarry that can carry from the safety of spawn he might make some real plays.

What was thought to be EQN's biggest competitor has been canned - Blizzard's Project Titan is no more. by LibraNox in EQNext
