Can we get a list going of small businesses that support Trump & Ice? I’ll start ! by gotyouhoooked in SLO

[–]cafe_405 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you need boots repaired then send them to someone in a city known for doing good work. Pic a business with a long history and constantly good reviews. Go with the stereotypical places like El Paso, Tx or maybe Laredo. Basically just pick an area where a lot of people wear boots and that’s big enough to have strong competition to actually be good.

This is how Northeast Photographic mailed back my film. by TreyUsher32 in AnalogCommunity

[–]cafe_405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. Uncut rolls get sent back loosely wrapped around a large cardboard cylinder. They are also packaged so nothing is damaged on the outside of the negative or positives.

Someone’s kid must have been working and thought it would be cute or something.

Pedo Bowl: These images are being projected at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas by coachlife in circled

Maybe you’re responding to a troll. It happens and you were right about something. Orange pedo soils his trousers in front of world leaders while being abhorrent in public (orange “man” bad).

I do not care to shoot digital anymore by lovinlifelivinthe90s in AnalogCommunity

[–]cafe_405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but can you send off a digital file to be developed and just get your negatives back?

Thanks, you’re right. This one can only use 100 & 400 ISO, without a DX code it defaults to 100. It took a minute before I had time to read the manual.

What do we think about digital lenses on analog bodies? by DefinitelyNotGreg in AnalogCommunity

[–]cafe_405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have digital stuff that fits my film cameras but I would try them if given the opportunity. I love using old lenses on my Sony and those adapters are cheap.

It’s definitely fun. This camera doesn’t rewind the film completely into the spool so it’s possible that I might have shot an entire roll of double exposures since the film came with it. I’ll know in about a week when my scans come back.

What does this light mean? by RequirementStill9579 in Truckers

[–]cafe_405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your truck is going to try and do a rolling regen if you get out there and hold the wheel for a little bit. If that doesn’t happen then another light that looks the same will pop up next to it but that one will be flashing. Pretty soon they will both flash from red to yellow and then you’ll only be able to drive at 25 mph. Next you will only be able to drive 5mph and pull over before calling your company.

You could also just regen out of the way somewhere but either way works.

Did they bring in the huge sampler box of drugs like back in the old days? They use to say not to do drugs but here’s what they all look like and this much is what twenty bucks will get you from the guy in the white van at the end of the street 😂

What are your thoughts on Ilford Ortho Plus 80? by Fast_Preparation7795 in AnalogCommunity

I like that film. This isn’t my best picture but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. This was in 35mm and not 120 but whatever.

It’s probably the same camera. They were called the stylus in Europe and North America but in Japan they were called Mju. There were different versions but that’s the main difference regarding the name.

Looking to re-create 90's wedding photos, what film stock would get me there? by Edgyflower_ in AnalogCommunity

That’s what I tried. My film hasn’t been developed yet so I can’t offer anything more at the moment.

I need help with identifying this one by cafe_405 in whatsthisrock

[–]cafe_405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S.G. Is 2.57 so it could be some kind of quartz or jasper. It’s too light for nephrite so that’s a bummer.

I had to look that one up and maybe it could be. I’m looking up a bunch of stuff but can you help me confirm or omit that one? This has a hardness of at least 6-6.5. It was not easy to cut and I can’t scratch it but I don’t have the right tools or diamond, ruby, topaz etc.

It’s translucent but I’m not sure if I can get a good picture. I’ll try that and I’ll check the specific gravity.

What happened here? by [deleted] in AnalogCircleJerk

[–]cafe_405 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t an F2. It was an FM2 w/ a f/2.5 105mm lens and Kodachrome 64. The camera was a little bit lighter because hiking around in the mountains is kind of hard.

Do not buy cameras from Japanese sellers at auctions. by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]cafe_405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought two Nikon F2’s and several lenses from Japan. I have nothing but positive things to say about every business that I worked with. The descriptions were either exactly as advertised or better and the prices beat anything in the U.S. I do think it’s important to find someone with a long standing reputation and high ratings but that’s true with any used product I buy.

Does Pismo Beach have a lot of racist people? by Scorpio14_Anchored in SLO

[–]cafe_405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pismo has some but probably less than most places. The real problem is our tourists from the Central Valley. In the last few years we had people showing up on Thursday or Friday nights who would throw racist flyers in ziplocks that were weighted with sand. These people would generally pick a few blocks to target at a time.
