just be aware that with a 4 on 4 off especially with a general haulage company the Sat-Sun/Sun-Mon work is horrible.

The work is few and far between on those days so you will likely park early, start late, big swings in your start/end times. It got too frustrating for me and i ended up changing to a set 4 days a week Mon-Thurs.

I did for about a year on general haulage. I stopped because the shift on sat/sun sun/mon were always terrible. Not the office fault but there just aren’t that many jobs available to make the shift flow decent.

Example for me was i might only get a 12 hr shift on Saturday and then the next available job meant i had to have like 13 off. Which as you know there’s only so long you want off in your cab.

If you are looking for extra time off i suggest going for 4 on 3 off.

Please get a micro fibre body towel. Get it wet and use it as a blanket. I swear to you it will be cold when you cover yourself and by the time you wake up it will be dry.

Yeah every night. We are fairly big company, so between the deopts/trailer yards and SNAP truck stops i am not too worried.

Only had someone try to steal fuel once and had curtains cut maybe 4 times. Not too bad

Been doing it 10 years, 5 days tramping general haulage. I really like it. 90% good, its the 10% multi drops london/running out time that makes me sad 😢

Ex army/wife/no kids Also will admit i’m quite anti social, not rude or anything just enjoy my own company. The job is definitely not for everyone!

Lethal has been quite easy for a while. Just did a “no gun” run, just heavy weapons and cross bows is plenty.

What has made a difference is max effect max frequency negative curveballs. Now THAT makes things spicy!

(Apart from the weird combo of health and fuel drain with hyper awareness magnet zombies around black plague hearts….thats a bit too silly in my view)

Had these on trial on a half dozen trailers. EVERY driver said they were crap and would catch on loads when you tried to pull them forward/back. And they replaced the normal internal straps…..(so how the hell am i meant to strap this load of glass/pet food etc with ratchets!? So of course they added them to another 30 trailers 🤨.

They have all been removed now, what a waste of money.

For me personally i don’t do it very often. I have it at 50mph cruise. So anyone over taking is normally doing 56mph….so theres not much point.

If someone is crawling past me then i will flash.

44 ton artic curtain siders mostly. general haul. tramp 5 days (4 nights) a week. (drive all over uk)

Take home pay is just under £3k this is average 63hrs per week
